Thinking about it further, it seems to me that while times are better than ever for the inspired hobbyist, it's the dark ages for anybody who has aspirations of being a professional full-time musician.
There are two things in this regard.
1/ Inspired hobbyists are the best thing to have happened to music.

So, as I understand it, this is what will happen to the biz.
1/ As reproduction costs are (next to) nothing and everybody has the technology to copy and pass on music, the prices will drop to (nearly) zero.

Billboard correctly points out that Wikipedia doesn't allow artists and their "managers" to get their propaganda out on the 'net.
Which is excellent as far as I'm concerned, because the last thing I'm interested in when I'm trying to find out about someone is why their mates think their album is the best thing since Exile on Main St.
And Firefox's Wikipedia search bar is a boon.

MySpace is now The Man.
By placing themselves opposite the trend of new music slowly becoming free of all charge and by trying out dodgy tricks like offering free downloads via a text messaging scheme, they've now clearly demonstrated that they're thinking like the dinosaurs.
Pity, because they had the network, the contacts and the word-of-mouth credibility to try something really contrarian at this point, to lead the way for some really arse backwards approach to distributing music taking into account that charging for songs can't ever be a valid business model because it is impossible to control scarcity.
They have aligned themselves with something that I personally hope to see dead, but, more importantly, a kind of business practice that'll most likely not survive the internet, not unless they turn the internet into a dictatorship - I'd hate that, but I wouldn't discount it.
This could have been something new, exciting and progressive.

The Holy Fuck record is fantastic.
I played it as I went to sleep last night and had seriously weird dreams.
It must be good!

I think it's one of the very best things to have come out recently.
It's hard for me to describe this album - it's too introverted, too shy to really compete with all the other noises in the room when you play it in the daytime.
It expands over the 'phones in the dark, tho', into something colourful, detailed and large, as if you've been let into Khan's own dreamworld, one which is as illogical and insubstantial as all dreamworlds are, but as hauntingly beautiful as the best dreams sometimes get.
Which is to say, it ought to be too precious by half but is actually quite the pretty pop gem.
And yes, Sad Eyes is a thing of beauty.
