Given that iTunes singles of the week (from significantly lesser known artists) typically manage in the high 400k tracks for the week, 600k for the first day sounds somewhat unimpressive.

You guys really need to invest in a soundscan account.
It sold 885 copies this week (all digital), or about half of what would be required to make the digital albums chart.

Actually, this is likely exactly what UMG had in mind, as long as stuff on the opposite end of the popularity spectrum merits more than $0.99/track.
