December 1, 2011: Despite glowing reviews and lofty positions in end-of-year countdowns from Rolling Stone and Pitchfork, Beyonce’s 4 is basically snubbed by the Grammy committee. She picked up a couple of nods — one for Best Rap/Sung Collaboration and another for Best Long Form Video — but it was an unexpected slap for the heavily pregnant diva. (Especially when you consider the superstar had already nabbed 16 Grammys before turning 30.)
The Grammys changed the categories and cut a lot out to stop giving Grammys to R&B and Hip Hop. Didn’t diminish the Queen’s light.
