The 2012 SXSW performer is at the forefront of the new wave of Australian indie-pop. Emma, who recently signed to US label Frenchkiss, has already been compared to Sia and Kimbra due to the strength of her pipes and complexity of her lyrics. But the Brisbane-based songsmith is no indie snooze. As the brooding electro-balled “Jungle” proves, she isn’t afraid of using synths or belting out a moody pop chorus. Her debut EP Full Hearts and Empty Rooms was released last year to critical acclaim.
