Red Hot Chili Peppers Discover A Whole New Way To Get Exploited

Here’s a novel way to draw attention to your workplace dispute: Drop a famous band name, and some semi-funky basslines, and hope to God the kids aren’t paying attention. Last week, a California group called Janitors For Justice protested Warner Music’s wage and health-care polices by picketing the label’s offices. When their demonstration wound up on YouTube, though, the group tagged the footage “Red Hot Chili Peppers,” and threw in some vaguely Flea-like riffs for a soundtrack. As a result, the clip is now one of YouTube’s most-watched video clips–right after 4,238 different takes of you-know-who doing you-know-what.
