Best Music 2011: Patrick Stump Picks His Favorite Album Of The Year

Mon Dec 5 2011 by Becky Bain
As another year of music comes to a close, we'll be analyzing and debating the critics' picks of what tunes summed up 2011 best. But we're also interested in the perspective of the artists who helped shape the sound of the past 12 months. We’ve picked a special class of pop artists — talents who defined what we heard and saw in 2011 — to participate in our special year-end feature, exclusively sharing with us their picks for the best albums and most exciting performers in music.

Kicking off our annual series is Patrick Stump, who selected an album from a songwriting legend, and someone who clearly influenced the "This City" crooner's own musicianship. And that talent has been in evidence more than ever this year, as Patrick rocked a string of a cappella crowd pleasers, and his debut solo LP, Soul Punk, which itself ranks among the best albums of 2011 . Jump below to find out whose music had the biggest impact on Stump in 2011. More »

Fri Dec 2 2011 by Becky Bain

:: Check out some sneaky footage of a blonde-bobbed Rihanna filming her "You Da One" video in London. [Music & Lyrics]

:: Drake just fired his entire management team, Hip Hop Since 1978, that also happens to manage Nicki Minaj, Kanye and Young Jeezy. Definitely has us wondering what Drizzy is up to. [PopCrush]

:: Get your “LOL” on and check out the funniest music videos of 2011. [MTV Buzzworthy]

:: What’s a day without watching a viral video of a guy rapping a song you love? Except in this one the guy is making pancakes at the same time, and he’s actually really good. Check out this yummy version of "Look At Me Now." [Huffington Post]

Thu Dec 1 2011 by Becky Bain
Eminem and Royce have done it. Kanye and Jay-Z, too. Now B.o.B and T.I. are jumping on the bandwagon and working on a collaborative album. As confirmed by Bobby Ray on Hot 97's Angie Martinez Show, the duo's LP will be titled The Man & The Martian. "It's just something to have fun with," he adds. Apparently the two MCs don't mind keeping themselves busy with projects, as B.o.B has just put the finishing touches on his sophomore album, Strange Clouds, and T.I. is prepping his new release, Trouble Man. Now what should their duo name be? B.T.O.I.B.?

8 Grammy Nomination Snubs: From Britney & Beyonce To Taylor & Dr. Luke

Thu Dec 1 2011 by Robbie Daw
In 2010, Katy Perry's Teenage Dream — an unashamedly-bubblegum album executive-produced by pop maestros Dr. Luke and Max Martin — scored the California gurl an Album Of The Year Grammy nomination, not to mention nods for Best Pop Vocal Album and Best Female Pop Vocal Performance (for the LP's title song). And this year, pop veteran Britney Spears and her latest album Femme Fatale — another hit-laden bubblegum offering (though not nearly as hit-laden as Perry's) helmed by Luke and Martin — got zero Grammy love when nominees were announced last night. But Brit was hardly the only one snubbed this year by the National Academy Of Recording Arts And Sciences! More »

:: B.o.B has a new mixtape. Download Epic (aka Every Play Is Crucial) for free and rock out to Bobby Ray's newest tunes. [Music & Lyrics]

:: Remember MTV's 2gether? Of course you do! ("U + Me = Us" is definitely on a mixtape somewhere.) It looks like the four surviving members of the band may be back again and a "mockumentary about the band's reunion" is in the works. [MTV Buzzworthy]
