Lady Gaga Producer RedOne Says ‘Born This Way’ Is All About “Freedom”

Thu Feb 10 2011 by Becky Bain
Hot shot producer RedOne has been with Lady Gaga since the beginning — he produced tracks forThe Fame and The Fame Monster as well as her highly-anticipated third album, Born This Way. So it's a no brainer that he was included on the panel of industry professionals at Grammy Career Day, held at USC this past week.

While RedOne (born Nadir Khayat) spoke to high-schoolers about the realities of making it in the music biz, we wanted to know all about Gaga's new album. Much like he's done in the past when questioned about the pop star's new tunes, he tried to keep mum or stay vague — she should feel relieved that the secrets of her songs are safe with him — but we still tried to get it out of him anyway. Can you blame us?

We also discussed Jennifer Lopez's abilities to multi-task working on a TV show and finishing a new album, and touched on why so many artists are stepping into the club scene. Head below to check out our one-on-one with the Grammy-nominated producer: More »

U2 Perform ‘Spider-Man’ Song Live

Tue Oct 5 2010 by Becky Bain
We've already heard Reeve Carney, the star of ill-fated rock musical Spider-Man: Turn Off The Dark, perform the show's number "Boy Falls From The Sky". But how does it sound when performed by the rock band who penned it? U2 busted out the song during a concert in Portugal over the weekend, so jump below to check it out and see if the tune is any less angsty when sung by Bono instead of somebody attempting to sound like Bono. Listen To U2’s “Boy Falls From The Sky” From The ‘Spider-Man’ Musical

Fri Sep 10 2010 by Becky Bain
Good news! The first song we get to hear from U2's oft-delayed, mostly recast, incredibly expensive musical Spider-Man: Turn Off The Dark is a pretty good U2 track! The bad news is it's not really a great Broadway tune. The song, "Boy Falls From The Sky", is sung by Reeve Carney, the lucky guy who nabbed the role of Peter Parker/Spidey, and her performed the solo number on Good Morning America today. Listen below. Eminem Has ‘Billboard’ Covered

Fri Jun 25 2010 by Robbie Daw
You've snagged Eminem's new album Recovery (or apparently 600,000 of you will by week's end, at least) and you're all geared up for his pairing-up with Jay-Z on tonight's Late Show With David Letterman. So while you're fully in an Em state of mind, why not feast your eyes on the best-selling artist of the last decade's Billboard cover story, where Interscope chairman Jimmy Iovine says the Detroit rapper "shows all the signs of being one of the great lyricists, on par with [Bruce] Springsteen, Bono and [Bob] Dylan," while Eminem himself  reveals, "...I still feel so regular. I don't understand what people think the big deal is about me. It's a very strange relationship that I have with fame." More »

Lee DeWyze’s “Beautiful Day”: Hear The Recorded Single Version

Thu May 27 2010 by Robbie Daw
Scruffy-faced rocker Lee DeWyze was crowned the winner of American Idol less than 24 hours ago, and already his "Beautiful Day" single has shot into the Top 10 on iTunes (as of this morning it's at #8). After his first performance of the song on Tuesday night's episode, we noted that DeWyze just doesn't have Bono's tenor range to pull the cover of U2's Grammy-winning jam off that effectively. Anyway, we'll leave the verdict on Lee's final recorded version up to you. Head below to listen to "Beautiful Day," as well as Crystal Bowersox's single, "Up To The Mountain." More »

We Decide Lee And Crystal’s Post-’Idol’ Career Moves

Wed May 26 2010 by Becky Bain
Either Crystal Bowersox or Lee DeWyze will be crowned the winner of American Idol Season 9 tonight—but which of them will have the real career? Last night's show seemed to tip in the dred-headed lady's favor, but even if she does take the title, we know that winning Idol seems less and less a predicator of success. After thinking long and hard about it, we've figured out all the post-Idol moves Mama Sox and Mr. DeWyze need to make to ensure they have careers now that they're both headed to the big leagues. ‘American Idol’: Simon Cowell Ends His Stint As Judge On A Positive Note

Wed May 26 2010 by Robbie Daw
When Will Young, the winner of the very first Pop Idol, sang "Leave Right Now" live at the end of last night's episode of American Idol, he might as well have been crooning directly to Simon Cowell rather than showcasing to the public the ballad that ushered the contestants out the door each week this year. Yes, in addition to being a celebration of the journey Crystal Bowersox and Lee DeWyze have made over the course of Season 9, Tuesday night was also a reminder that the man we came to know as Mr. Nasty eight years ago will no longer utter the words "dire," "abysmal" and "horrific" on the AI stage. Sigh. Read on below. More »
