The Morning Mix: ‘Glee’ Indulges Us By Hooking Up Kurt And Blaine For V-Day

Wed Dec 29 2010 by Becky Bain
Did You Hear?

:: Our favorite Glee boys, Kurt and Blaine (played by Chris Colfer and Darren Criss) will reportedly be taking things to the next level during the show's Valentine's Day episode (and during a Robin Thicke song, to boot). We look forward to more cutesy duets like "Baby, It's Cold Outside" in the second half of Season 2. [Vulture]

:: Lily Allen is engaged to her boyfriend, Sam Cooper. We're happy that Lily, who suffered a miscarriage and a hospital stay last month, is ending the year with some good news. [Spinner]

:: Rihanna and Matt Kemp have broken up, making RiRi a single lady just in time for her New Year's Eve hosting gig at Pure nightclub in Las Vegas. [Just Jared]

:: Amy Winehouse's To Do list when she was 17-years old includes "Live like the bombshell I really am" and "Get teeth fixed." Ten years later, both of those items have yet to be checked off. [Jezebel]

:: Listen to an unreleased Ciara tune, "Twerk", produced by Polow Da Don, and allegedly from her The Evolution sessions. [Music & Lyrics]

The 8 Producers Who Made 2010 Go Pop

Tue Dec 28 2010 by Robbie Daw
Hit singles don't just happen when Justin Bieber steps up to the mic and opens his 16-year-old yap to sing. Often it takes just as much blood, sweat and tears (not to mention a little magical fairy dust) from the producers behind the boards to give a pop song that extra shine. We rounded up the eight musical wizards—including Dr. Luke, photographed here for a Billboard cover story earlier this year—who we feel made 2010 a very listenable 12 months on Planet Pop. Check them out below. More »

Ke$ha — Queen Of “Slutwave”

Mon Dec 27 2010 by Becky Bain
2010 was the year when overtly sexual music recorded by female pop stars finally got a name — "Slutwave". (Because how dare a woman want sex and then sing about it!) Rolling Stone has even named "Slutwave" the fake genre of the year, but how fake can it be when it's everywhere? Complex compiled a list of the 25 Greatest Songs of "Slutwave", and, shocking absolutely no one, roadkill fashionista Ke$ha topped the list, specifically for her single "Blah Blah Blah", in which she asks of her male suitor to "show me where your dick's at". Put your mind back into the gutter by checking out the mag's Top 5 "Slutwave" songs below. More »

Taylor Swift And Susan Boyle Hold Michael Jackson Back From #1

Wed Dec 22 2010 by Robbie Daw
Michael, Michael Jackson's posthumous collection of polished-up unreleased tunes, proved to be no match for Taylor Swift's Speak Now and Susan Boyle's The Gift, both of which kept the sales momentum going in the lead-up to Christmas. Still, MJ's latest managed to trump new releases from R. Kelly and Diddy-Dirty Money. More »

Ciara Rides Onto ‘The Mo’Nique Show’

Wed Dec 22 2010 by Robbie Daw
Ciara's "Ride" video may have been banned by BET, but the network clearly had no problem with the extremely flexible diva giving a performance of the song—complete with CiCi's impressive (and highly sexed-up) moves—on The Mo'Nique Show. Too bad this probably won't amount to much in the way of album sales for Basic Instinct, though. Hits Daily Double has the LP going into the chart at #43 on sales of just under 38,000 copies. (Billboard will publish the full album chart and final positions tomorrow). Throw Ciara a bone by watching her do "Ride" and "Gimme Dat" for Mo'Nique's audience below. More »

Ciara Tears The Roof Off ‘Lopez Tonight’

Fri Dec 17 2010 by Robbie Daw
Like a wicked little minx, Ciara has been teasing us all week with her TV appearances. Girl, we know you can bust the Matrix with ease. And giving Chelsea Handler a pack of Magnums was classy touch. We finally got to see her perform on The Ellen DeGeneres Show, but that was simply an appetizer. Because it was CiCi's stint on last night's Lopez Tonight—where she performed her Basic Instinct jam "Gimme Dat"—that the flexible diva finally pulled all the stops out for. We dig the band. We dig the moves. And most of all, we dig Ciara. Watch her mop up the floor with every other player in the game below. More »

Ciara Celebrates ‘Basic Instinct’ Release—And Christmas (PHOTOS)

Thu Dec 16 2010 by Erika Brooks Adickman

Ciara managed to find one more place to celebrate the release of her latest album, Basic Instinct. While the “Gimme Dat” singer didn’t bend through any hula hoops, she did get into the Christmas spirit by posing upon her arrival while wearing a giant Santa hat. Inside at Drai’s Hollywood, the “Ride” singer took the mic and performed three songs from her latest album for lucky fans. Check out the 25-year-old’s signature rock hard abs and killer dance moves from last night’s festive fiesta. More »

Ciara Gives Chelsea Handler A Big Surprise

Thu Dec 16 2010 by Robbie Daw
This week Basic Instinct girl Ciara has bent over backwards through a hula hoop for Wendy Williams, freestyled on 106 & Park and given Ellen's audience a jaw-dropping dance display. But she was still in a giving mood when she appeared on Chelsea Lately last night. In fact, she presented host Chelsea Handler with a "CiCi survival kit" for when the comedienne hits the road for her stand-up gigs around the country. We'll keep it PG-13 and not mention the, uh, big surprise that was in the bag—but you can watch below! More »

The Morning Mix: Diddy Shows Justin Bieber How To Swagger

Thu Dec 16 2010 by Becky Bain
Did You Hear?

:: Diddy gives Justin Bieber honorary membership into the Dirty Money crew by handing him a letter jacket, and finishes the induction ceremony by showing the young boy how to swag properly. Was this not a lesson Justin's swagger coach already covered? [MTV Buzzworthy]

:: Another day, another person suing the Black Eyed Peas. This time it's George Clinton, who is suing the group over the use of an illegal sample of his song “(Not Just) Knee Deep” they used in the remix of "Shut Up". Somehow it took him the past seven years to decide he wants to take legal action against the Peas. [MySpace Music]

:: The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame will induct Neil Diamond, Alice Cooper, and Tom Waits. Antoine Dodsen, that'll be you in 25 more years! [Spinner]

:: Entertainment Tonight accidentally calls Glee's Chris Colfer a Golden Globe Best Supporting Actress nominee. At least we hope that slip-up was accidental. [Vulture]

:: Matthew Morrison will embark on a tour this spring during Glee's hiatus, promoting his solo album. [EW Music Mix]

Ciara Is A Dancing Machine While Performing “Gimme Dat” On ‘Ellen’

Wed Dec 15 2010 by Becky Bain
Ciara killed it this morning on Ellen, whipping out a super tight and totally intense performance of her lead Basic Instinct single, "Gimme Dat". Though she's been busting moves on the talk show circuit, there's nothing quite like seeing her bring it for a full song. (Even if she forgot her stiletto Chucks at home.) Watch Ci-Ci get quite a workout by hopping below. More »
