Wed Apr 28 2010 by Robbie Daw
English band Sade have been pushing "Babyfather" on the TV circuit (did you catch their performances on The Tonight Show With Jay Leno, Dancing With The Stars and the Late Late Show With Craig Ferguson?) and now the vibrant single art has arrived. Sophie Muller, who directed Sade's "Soldier Of Love" video, got behind the lens for the "Babyfather" cover. Have a look at the full image after the jump. More »

Courtney Love Discusses Past Demons On ‘Letterman,’ Keeps Her Clothes On

Wed Apr 28 2010 by Robbie Daw
As well as going through some hard times (to say the least!) over the past six years, Hole's lone survivor Courtney Love has also gone through some rough looks. Still, with surprisingly solid new album Nobody's Daughter out this week, Love is proving that she's able to now trudge onto gigs like The Late Show With David Letterman and keep her shirt on. (Dammit!) Her interview with Dave starts out pretty hilarious, and then she runs through the addictions she's battled and the rehab stints she endured over the past several years. Looks like Nobody's Daughter is finally all grown up—well, unless you consider her claims of sleeping with Gavin Rossdale after he was with Gwen Stefani. Anyway, watch below! More »

7 Artists That Need To Be “Madonna’d” On ‘Glee’ Right Now!

Tue Apr 27 2010 by Erika Brooks Adickman

While we think it's great that Glee creator Ryan Murphy sees some seriously potential in an all-Britney Spears episode of his hit musical dramedy, why stop at kooky blondes? We figured there must other artists who would be a perfect fit for New Directions. We got our Glee-gears spinning and came up an all-star list of pop artists who have more than earned their own Madonna-style Gleek-ing. Sadly, Mariah Carey and Phil Collins did not make the cut, but check after the jump to see the seven stars we'd like to see with an "L" on their foreheads.

Coachella Round-Up: Day 3

Mon Apr 19 2010 by Becky Bain
It's been a long three days living in the 90-degree Coachella bubble—we suffered through heatstroke, unrelenting traffic, and even MGMT's set, and we somehow made it to the other side with all our body parts intact. By Sunday, Coachella had slowed to a relaxed hum—that is, until Thom Yorke treated everybody to a dance party, and Gorillaz ended the fest with a colorful, funky and ultimately triumphant performance. While we smother our sunburns in aloe, check out our round-up of the last day of the desert music fest below. More »

The Morning Mix: Rihanna Joins Lilith Fair For One Night Only

Tue Apr 13 2010 by Becky Bain
Did you hear?

:: Rihanna has been added to the Lilith Fair lineup... for one date only. People of Salt Lake City, enjoy some RiRi when Lilith Fair rolls into your town on July 12. [Just Jared]

:: M.I.A. should probably read this article discussing why product placement in an artist's video isn't always such a bad thing. [PopEater]

:: Ben Folds is collaborating with author (and Oscar-nominated screenwriter) Nick Hornby on an upcoming album. We're much more excited about that than a second season of The Sing-Off, to be honest, but Folds discusses both in this recent interview with New York magazine. [Vulture]

:: Be grateful for the kid in your life (whether it's your own offspring or you yourself) with this list of the best songs inspired by children. [Spinner]

:: Rolling Stone readers give their picks for their favorite albums from solo artists previously known for their work in a band. Eddie Vedder's Into the Wild is at the top of the male-dominated heap—what, no Gwen Stefani, Fergie or Beyoncé? [Rolling Stone]

After the jump: we congratulate MGMT in our countdown to Coachella. More »

Travie McCoy Flies High With Cover Art And Lead Single “Billionaire”

Mon Apr 5 2010 by Becky Bain
Gym Class Heroes' Travis Travie McCoy unveiled the high-flying cover art to his debut solo album Lazarus (due June 8), and although it reminds us more of Icarus than Lazarus, we're still digging the conceptual art work. McCoy has a slew of helping hands on his album—producers and featured artists on the record include T-Pain, The Stereotypes, and his Fueled By Ramen buddy (and frequent collaborator) Patrick Stump. Put some dollar signs in your eyes and listen to Travie's first single "Billionaire," featuring soul singer Bruno Mars, below. More »

The Morning Mix: Britney Spears Is Single Again, Ya’ll

Wed Mar 17 2010 by Becky Bain
Did You Hear?

:: Britney Spears and her agent/boyfriend Jason Trawick have called it quits after a year of dating. Now Music's Sexiest Star can play the field—go get 'em, girl! Just stay away from paparazzi, anyone named Jason, or wannabe rappers. [E! Online]

:: Gwen Stefani rocks the cover of InStyle, and discusses her fashion line. She does not, however, talk about being the hottest 40-year old in the world. That's where we come in. This mama of two is fine. [Just Jared]

:: There's one person who isn't calling Lady Gaga's telephone—visionary director Michel Gondry is decidedly not interested in directing a Gaga video. Ever. Ouch. [True/Slant]

:: A comprehensive list of all the delicious foodstuffs musical acts sing about—and the restaurants, cafes and bars they should open in their band's name. [Flavorwire]

:: Bret Michaels says there was nothing weird about recording a song with Miley Cyrus. He probably doesn't think a bus full of skanky fame whores competing for the love of a washed up rock star is anything to worry about, either. [Pop Eater]

After the jump: celebrate St. Patty's Day with one of pop's favorite Irish bands. More »

‘American Idol’: Meet 7 Of The Top 24

Wed Feb 17 2010 by Becky Bain
Rookie judge Ellen DeGeneres continued to emerge as a strong, critical but affable figure on the Idol panel, but the real star of the final Hollywood round wasn't Ellen or any of the 71 contestants still alive at the start of the episode—the night belonged to Michael Jackson and Jason Mraz. It felt like every other contestant tried to bare their souls to either Jackson's "Man in the Mirror" or Mraz's "I'm Yours," though only a handful earned spots in the Top 24. Take a look at who's in, who's out, and who's still got a shot: More »

‘American Idol’: Group Day

Thu Feb 11 2010 by Robbie Daw
Ryan Seacrest didn’t describe American Idol’s first week in Hollywood as “Hell Week” for nothing. But his warning at the start of Wednesday’s Idol episode proved apt: the remaining 96 contestants sweated through the dreaded Group Day, scrambling to plan and pull off vocal arrangements and choreography with fellow contestants they had barely met. So much drama went down, our heads are still spinning. But the lesson learned for all involved was this: never, ever, ever attempt Gwen Stefani's "The Sweet Escape," Idol hopefuls. More »

The Morning Mix: Twitter Gets Us Excited About New No Doubt And Kanye Albums

Thu Jan 28 2010 by Becky Bain
Morning everyone! While Ashlee Simpson-Wentz is wondering why people are so obsessed with her sister Jessica's fluctuating weight, we're scratching our heads why people are still interviewing Ashlee Simpson-Wentz. While we figure that one out, onto the mix!

Did You Hear?

:: No Doubt tweets about returning to the studio to record their new album. Anyone else think Gwen Stefani's abs deserve their own Twitter account? [MTV]

:: Kanye West is apparently finished with his next album, because somebody's already listened to it. (Their vague one-word Twitter review? "Inspiring.") [EW Music Mix]

:: Usher's long-delayed album Raymond v. Raymond gets an official release date of March 30. Unless, of course, it gets delayed again. [Rap Radar]

:: Soulja Boy is releasing a book called Teenage Millionaire. We hope it's a how-to book. [Hip Hop Wired]

:: At the mere thought of getting Justin Bieber concert tickets, one teenage mega-fan makes her mother do awful, awful things. (Five words: tramp stamp at middle age.) [Buzzfeed]

Behind the jump: We implore Vanessa Williams to return to recording music after the cancellation of her TV show. More »
