The Morning Mix: M.I.A. To Make Some Noise Across North America
Thu Sep 9 2010 by Becky Bain
Did You Hear?
:: M.I.A. is heading out on a North American tour in promotion of her new album. Hopefully her concerts will go smoother than her other live performances from the past year. If anything, we know they won't be serving truffle fries at any of the venues. [Rap-Up]
:: Allison Iraheta has suffered a frequent rite of passage of former American Idol contestants—the singer is no longer signed to Jive Records. (She is, however, still with 19 Recordings.) [EW Musix Mix]
:: Inception's Joseph Gordon-Levitt covers Lady Gaga's "Bad Romance". He's a little late to the party, but we'll forgive him because he's just too precious. (Though we think his cover of Aretha Franklin's "(You Make Me Feel Like A) Natural Woman" was a less obvious, more inspired choice.) [MTV Buzzworthy]
:: Shakira-approved indie band The xx took home the 2010 Mercury prize for their debut album. [Spinner]
:: Glee's season premiere will feature seven songs—Jay-Z’s “Empire State of Mind,” Lady Gaga’s “Telephone,” Travie McCoy’s “Billionaire,” and Poison’s “Every Rose Has Its Thorn,” as well as the Broadway songs “What I Did for Love” from A Chorus Line, “Getting to Know You” from The King and I, and “Listen” from the Dreamgirls film. Also, the season premiere will be five hours long, apparently. [Rolling Stone]
After the jump, check out which stars will be lighting up the tube tonight. More »

Magenta-haired Idol alum Allison Iraheta and Aussie rock goddess Orianthi are opening for Adam Lambert on his Glam Nation tour, and it looks like they're already getting along really well. Allison revamped her Just Like You track "Don't Waste the Pretty" by adding the singer-guitarist, who provides some backing vocals and a killer rock riff on the single version of the song. Allison Iraheta Gives Us “One More Reason” To Love Her With Bonus Track
Tue Mar 9 2010 by Becky Bain
Allison Iraheta is on her way to becoming one of the more successful fourth-place finishers of American Idol. Of course, it will take a lot (and we mean a lot) of album sales to stack up against Season 5's Top 4 finalist Chris Daughtry. But from what we've heard on Allison's debut album Just Like You, we wouldn't rule out the possibility of the Magenta-haired, raspy-voiced teen taking over the pop charts. "One More Reason," a bonus track on the Japanese edition of Just Like You, is more proof of this girl's potential to be the next Kelly Clarkson (not that the old Kelly Clarkson is going anywhere). Listen to it below.

Mon Feb 15 2010 by Becky Bain
Adam Lambert, Kris Allen and Allison Iraheta blew the roof off of NYC's Highline Ballroom Friday night during their Ryan, Rock My Town concert, treating screaming fans to songs from all three singers' respective debut albums. Lest anyone forget that they're famous because they sang other people's songs really well, they put their own spin on a few past hits as well. The best of the cover songs was definitely the closing number, Rolling Stone's song of the decade, Gnarls Barkley's "Crazy." Each Idol alum took a verse—guess who tackled the song best? Watch below:
