Andre 3000 has reportedly already made his way to Ireland to begin shooting the Jimi Hendrix biopic, All Is By My Side. One little snafu with the production? Jimi Hendrix’s estate is not on board with the film project.

Experience Hendrix LLC, the family-owned company that manages the late guitar great’s music and publishing, released a statement declaring that the estate “has made it known many times in the past that no such film, were it to include original music or copyrights created by Jimi Hendrix, can be undertaken without its full participation.”

Hendrix’s estate’s non-involvement doesn’t mean the film can’t be made — but that it can’t be made using any of Jimi’s recordings or compositions. Considering that the movie takes place during the making of the rock icon’s debut album, Are You Experienced, we’d think having Hendrix’s music appar in the film is kind of a necessity. [Via WSJ]

After a few starts and stops, Andre 3000 has officially landed the role of a lifetime. The rapper and actor will play rock icon Jimi Hendrix in upcoming biopic All Is By My Side. The film is said to follow Hendrix’s humble beginnings, his discovery in New York, and the crucial months he spent in England crafting his 1967 debut album, Are You Experienced. Screenwriter and novelist John Ridley, who has worked on films such as Three Kings, U-Turn and Red Tails, will write the script and direct the production, which will begin shooting in Ireland this month. Good thing for Three Stacks that Jason Derulo was too busy focusing on his music, huh? [Via IFTN]

As much as we love all the crazy animated characters that form Gorillaz, we’re not so keen to stay the night at their flat. The video for Gorillaz’s collaboration with Andre 3000 and LCD Soundsystem’s James Murphy, “DoYaThing”, dropped today, and the clip tells the surreal story of a bunch of CGI toons starting their day in their absolute shambles of a home. Keep a keen eye out to catch some of the fun details, like a bowl of ears, a fake newspaper called The Newspaper, and the Gorillaz-inspired Converse sneaker.

Last year, we posted our list of the top artists we demand new music from. Quite a few are making good on our desires — Daft Punk and Missy Elliott are currently working on their next release, and Fiona Apple just posted new tour dates — but, alas, a new OutKast record seems unlikely. “As of now, there are no plans for another OutKast album,” Andre 3000 told GQ. However, Three Stacks will be dropping his own solo LP. “I’m planning to do a solo project. I don’t know when it will come out, but hopefully it’ll come out this year.” As to what we can expect with his new tunes, he says, “This album will just be me being myself as normal.” Hey, that’s fine with us!

In anticipation of Converse releasing a Gorillaz-inspired shoe, the group’s mastermind Damon Albarn hooked up with LCD Soundsystem’s James Murphy and OutKast’s Andre 3000 for “DoYaThing”, and the jumpy, slightly schizophrenic but nonetheless delightful confection combines the best parts of all three unique artists. Just when it was looking like we’d maybe heard the last of Gorillaz for the time being, now that Damon Albarn is back in action with his old Blur bandmates, along comes news of “DoYaThing”, a new track from the virtual act that Converse is offering up via it’s Three Artists, One Song series. The other artists involved: Andre 3000 and James Murphy of LCD Soundsystem.

A press release notes that Gorillaz co-founder Jamie Hewlett collaborated with Converse on four different designs for the shoe company’s spring line, which “combine the iconic Chuck Taylor All Star silhouette with the band’s legendary graphic images.”

And as for “DoYaThing”, the artist-packed tune will be be available for download at www.converse.com on February 23. Two days before that, Albarn and Blur will be feted with the Outstanding Contribution To Music award at this year’s BRITs.

Following “Strange Clouds“, another single has blown in from B.o.B’s upcoming sophomore LP. This time it’s the rap/reggae/rock hybrid “Play The Guitar”, which features Andre 3000. Sure, the Outkast MC may have been booted from Beyonce’s “Party” when it came time to shoot the song’s video, but he’s having a full-on renaissance thanks to a feature on Ke$ha’s “Sleazy 2.0″ remix and a lengthy verse on this song, “Play The Guitar”. Get your licks in below.

Lyrically, it’s more of the usual from B.o.B — bragging, boasting, “stackin’ C notes” and rhymes like this: “When I hit the bar it’s like Cheers, everybody knows who we are.”

Andre has a fun time playing with words: “According to the Internet, 3000 got a big ol’ dic-tionary full of words, he must know how to use them.”

The thing that seems to be missing from “Play The Guitar” is a memorable hook. Do you see this song sticking around as long as B.o.B’s biggest hits “Airplanes” and “Nothin’ On You”?

As promised, beard-muncher Ke$ha has delivered her second official remix to her Cannibal track “Sleazy”, this time with Wiz Khalifa, T.I., Lil Wayne and Andre 3000 (who previously appeared on the first remix). But which MC lives up to the title of the song the best on their guest verse? T.I. previously said, “I haven’t heard anybody but mine [but] I’m gonna put my money on mine.” Did Tip bet wisely on his own flow? Check it out below and judge for yourself.

Wiz Khalifa — He raps about marijuana, Ferraris, and, well, more marijuana. But hey, he’s sharing!
Sleaziest Line: “She in love with my stick, she say I work it like magic.”

Andre 3000 — Virtually the same verse as the first “Sleazy” remix to surface. Three Stacks sticks to commenting on divorce, deadbeat dudes, and finding the strength to forgive them because “he’s human, I’m human, you’re human.” Heavy stuff for a song that claims to possess a beat with so much girth, it will make you orgasm.
Sleaziest Line: Andre is a class act! No sleaze here. We do, however, like how he references the fact that Ke$ha is “sippin’ Irish Bailey’s” in his Mercedes.

T.I. — Tip spends the majority of his verse boasting how everyone wants “to do the King”.
Sleaziest Line: It’s a toss up between “I was gonna take her, make her my new royal penis cleaner” and “Get you pregnant lookin’ at you”. Actually, who are we kidding, it’s the first one.

Lil Wayne — Last but not least, Wayne references Black Swan, Napoleon Dynamite and Kings Of Leon on his verse. What a pop culture junkie, that Weezy!
Sleaziest Line: “Know a girl named Cleopatra, she throw that pussy at you.”

The Sleaziest Winner: T.I, by a mile. Looks like he was right all along!

Ke$ha has been relatively quiet the second half of 2011, her most recent single “Blow” released back in February. But the glitter goddess (whose next album is due Spring 2012) is resurfacing in a sleazy way — by dropping an unnecessary remix! “Sleazy Remix 2.0 Get Sleazier” will be available on iTunes December 13, and features verses by Lil Wayne, Wiz Khalifa, T.I. and Andre 3000. Need more sleaze? Check out K-Dolla’s new Tumblr page, dedicated to photos of the pop performer putting beards in her mouth. Yuck.

Drake’s sophomore LP Take Care might as well count as Lil Wayne’s Tha Carter IV follow-up, as the rapper is featured on three songs off Drizzy’s new album: “HYFR”, “The Real Her” (which also boasts Andre 3000), and an untitled bonus track. Other Young Money amigo Nicki Minaj drops by “Make Me Proud”, and ex-amour and “What’s My Name” partner Rihanna adds her vocals to the title track. See who else made the cut below.

Since Beyonce’s “Run The World (Girls)” video premiered in May, we’ve been treated to five videos in total from the pop star, and the visuals for Bey’s sixth single from 4, “Party”, are already scheduled to premiere next Tuesday on 106 & Park. There will be one major difference from the album version and the single, though: Andre 3000′s verse has been replaced with J. Cole. We’re not sure we get Team Knowles’ strategy here — we were barely able to marinate in the joy of “Countdown” before “Love On Top” came along, and now we’re already being served the cameo-filled video (which was directed by Beyonce, FYI) for “Party”? We get filming all your videos early so you can focus on your pregnancy in the later months, but why release them one on top of another? We need breathing room, Bey!

Ke$ha is throwing a party on her “Sleazy” track, and everyone’s invited! Tapping Andre 3000 for the remix of her Cannibal track was just the beginning — now the pop star is adding Lil Wayne, T.I. and Wiz Khalifa (in addition to Andre) on yet another remix of the bass-pounding tune. XXL asked T.I. who has the best verse, to which the newly freed MC replied, “I haven’t heard anybody but mine [but] I’m gonna put my money on mine.” Wait a minute — shouldn’t T-Pain be on this lineup? In what is probably a very wise move, R&B singer Lloyd released his “Dedication To My Ex (Miss That)” video featuring a cleaned-up, radio-friendly version of his extremely NSFW single. This retro, du-wop tune is clearly his bid for some Cee Lo Green-style success, and with the word “lovin’” replacing a euphemism for a part of the female anatomy (take a guess), he just might get it. Vid below. (And though Lil Wayne and Andre 3000 both appear on the track, in the clip we get Wayne Brady and a rapping cat. Yay?)

Andre 3000 is no stranger to the acting world — he’s appeared on TV shows like The Shield, in the Will Ferrell comedy Semi-Pro and even starred in the musical Prohibition-era Idlewild. But the “Party”-goer’s next project could be a doozy – the Outkast man is reportedly playing Jimi Hendrix in an independently-made biopic of the artist’s life. Interesting, since that is the exact same part that Jason Derulo claims he turned down!

Actress Hayley Atwell, who next appears in Captain America, dished to Esquire about some upcoming projects, and she let it slip that Andre 3000 (born Andre Benjamin) may star as Hendrix in an upcoming biopic. “Next up is possibly a Jimi Hendrix biopic — an independent film with Andre 3000 from OutKast playing Jimi Hendrix,” she told the mang. “But I don’t know, really. The Atwell team is like, Let’s just wait and see.”

That’s a pretty meaty role for the rapper, but according to Jason Derulo, the part was his first. The “Don’t Wanna Go Home” singer told MTV-UK this week that he had to turn down the chance to play Hendrix so he could focus on his new album, Future History (out later this year).

“Future History is my main focus right now, it’s the greatest accomplishment of my life so far,” he said. “I really wanted to make sure it gets the exposure it deserves. It has to be heard by everybody. After this album, I will dive full-throttle into movies for a while. I will ultimately take a break from music.”

We’re not entirely convinced either artist could pull of Jimi Hendrix, though we have a harder time imagining Derulo effortlessly disappearing into an iconic figure like Hendrix. (At least Andre kind of looks the part.) But remember when there were like five different Janis Joplin biopics in the works attached to any number of actresses, from Renee Zellweger to Zoey Deschanel, and none of them got made? Let’s not be shocked if that happens again with Jimi.

If Cee Lo Green can have a chart-topping song that employs the F-word right there in its retro-sounding chorus, why can’t Lloyd score his own hit using a commonly used nickname for a woman’s genitalia? In this similarly Mowtown-inspired Polow Da Don production, R&B singer Lloyd complains about a cheating girlfriend who took her ladybits elsewhere, while Andre 3000 throws down a verse and Lil Wayne drops in for some brief narration. If you thought Kanye West rapping about bathing his so-and-so in Katy Perry’s milky way on “E.T.” was over the top, wait till you get a load of his intro on Beyonce’s newly-surfaced 4 slow jam “Party”: “You a bad girl, your friends bad too / You got the swag sauce, you’re drippin’ Swagu.” Head below to hear Bey and Outkast vet Andre 3000 on the slinky, retro production by West and studio wizard (and Digging profile subject) Jeff Bhasker. “Party” gives off such an old-school ’80s R&B vibe, we might actually have to demand that Beyonce and Andre 3000 get all decked out in full Ashford and Simpson gear for the video (provided this song eventually gets a single release). That vibe is no accident: the track samples Slick Rick and Doug E. Fresh’s legendary 1985 track “La Di Da Di”.

Lyrically, Bey is in the mood for some lovin’. “So in love, I don’t care what they say, I don’t care if they talkin’ tomorrow / ‘Cause tonight’s the night I give you everything,” she belts out in a thick stack of smooth, layered vocals.

Andre takes things further with some very naughty references to milk before switching gears altogether and getting philosophical about his own career with lines like “kiddo say he looks up to me, this just makes me feel old/ never thought that we could become someone else’s hero, man, we were just in the food court, eating our gyro.”
