Anniversaries I'm not much for ceremony, but I would be remiss if I didn't point out that today was my one-year anniversary of editing Idolator, and I'd be further remiss if I didn't take a second to thank all of you reading out there for coming by, reading, commenting, tipping, and generally keeping me on my toes. Click the photo for a YouTube clip of the song that has defined most of my editorship, for better or for worse.

Technology Has Taken Over (My List Of Recent Frustrations)

Gentle readers, if you have been following us over the past three and a half weeks, you know that there have been some system-related issues afoot, from the phantom "404 Not Found" messages that have greeted a smattering of people visiting any page on Idolator's site to the comment-eating epidemic that's even affected me. I think we're through the worst of it, but I have a favor to ask of you: If you encounter any bugs like this over the coming days, could you please alert me via e-mail (mauraATidolator.com)? Just remember to note the operating system and browser you were using when the problems hit. Thanks. To make this post a little more than a boring announcement, here's the War Games-themed video for the Pulsars' "Technology"! [YouTube]

Hey, are you connecting via a Verizon hookup? If you are, can you please let me know (mauraATidolatorDOTcom) if you've been having problems reaching the site? We're hearing stories of a few people experiencing "missed connections." Thanks!

A Reminder It's Idol finale day! (Well, pre-finale day, if you're feeling picky.) We'll have more news about that over the coming hours, but I just wanted to put out a reminder that once again Idolator's live-blogging of the finale will be in full effect, and that I'll be taking the reins of the blog at 8 p.m. ET tonight and tomorrow so you will have someone to watch along with. Also, if you'd like to see what happens when I get into a room with other Idol bloggers—Rickey of rickey.org, MJ of MJ's Big Blog, Michael Slezak of EW, and Jim Cantiello of MTV—MTV taped a roundtable of us chatting and bickering last week, and it's now online. Fun game: Count how many times I say the words "Alex Lushington" while I'm on camera! [MTV]

David Archuleta Hoping To Show The World That He's The Chris Brown Of "American Idol"

David Archuleta (and not his father) announced today that he'd sing Chris Brown's "With You" on tonight's episode of American Idol, during which each contestant will sing three songs—a personal pick, a judge's pick, and a producers' pick. This startling foray into 21st-century music should prove something of a test for young David, if only because his previous songs have only solidified his "young Wayne Newton frozen in amber" persona. Anyway! This post is also serving as a reminder that I'll be liveblogging the East Coast feed of tonight's show, which starts at 8 p.m. ET and runs for a little longer than an hour, after which I'll toss my computer aside and eagerly flip the channel to the Bobby Valentine documentary on ESPN2. No guarantees on what happens should the Archuleta/Fogelberg pairing reduce me to a puddle of mellowed-out goo, but at the very least, any melting will likely make for good blog fodder. The full slate of already-announced songs (via MJ) after the jump. More »

Attention readers! Do you use the "any thought worth communicating must be distilled into 140 characters or less" microblogging service Twitter? Is your account lacking in music news? Well, Idolator has an account on the site that pings your instant messenger account/mobile device every time we have a top story. Unfortunately the service doesn't whittle our posts down to the 140-character limit that our attention-span-challenged culture craves, but I'm sure there's a team of robot editors being developed for that very purpose right this minute. (Also, if you are interested in a sorta-real-time chronicle of my time at Coachella, I sent messages to the service throughout the weekend. And no, I didn't try the burgerrito, alas.) [Twitter]

Coachella: The Race To Avoid A Paralyzing Sunburn Begins Now

Today marks the first day of the three-day desert sweatfest Coachella, and I would be shirking my blogging duties if I didn't tell you in advance that have made my way out to southern California for blog-information-gathering purposes (well, that and the chance to see Portishead open for Prince, because when is that going to happen ever again in my life). If you'll be there, or if you see someone on the schedule who I absolutely positively should not miss, let me know in comments! (Unless your can't-miss band is Slightly Stoopid, because ... no.) Also please speak up if you know where to buy a big floppy hat around here, because I am terrified that I'm going to get burnt to a crisp. [Coachella]

Letter From The Editor Hi everyone! If you Google Blog Search the term "idolator" as often as I do, you've probably heard that Gawker Media has sold the site you're currently reading to the social-networking site/Pete Wentz blog host Buzznet, and that I'll remain in the driver's seat through the change in ownership. There's not much else to say about it right now, really—but in the interest of jacking up pageviews, I've posted Nick Denton's memo announcing the changes after the jump. (Rereading it now reminds me that we need an update to the long-out-of-date-anyway conflict of interest laundry list pretty soon. But you guys will keep me in check about that sort of stuff, right?)

Those of you who have been facing roadblocks in your attempts to comment on our posts, be aware: All seems to be well now. (If you're still having problems, try logging out and logging back in.) E-mail tipsATidolatorDOTcom if any issues linger. Thanks!

Allow Myself To Introduce... Myself

Salutations, Idolator readers: My name is Jeff Weiss and I will be your guest-blogger today. Usually, I issue dubious, drugged screeds at my other Internet outpost, The Passion of the Weiss. Occasionally, I accept shiny beads and metallic tokens to write about music for theLA Weekly and the Los Angeles Times. The remainder of my days are spent drinking Cisco, listening to Crime Mob b-sides and endlessly watching re-reruns of My Two Dads. (They have a name for those who claimed that Paul Reiser was never great prior to Mad About You: Philistines.) More »

Guest Blogger Plans On Doing It All For The Nookie

'Sup. The name is Anthony Miccio. You may have heard of my blog, Anthony Is Right, or read my posts on ILX. I wrote about Dio in a book and spoke about the Ying Yang Twins on a CMJ panel. I also liked Good Charlotte before liking Good Charlotte was cool. I recently moved to New York after a decade-plus in Pennsylvania, and Maura's giving me the opportunity to guest blog you up. My turn-ons include David Wain, pop that rocks, and women that watch music video blocks. Know me.

Idolator's Guest-Blogger Is Here Because Texas Messed With Her

Hello dear Idolator readers, MTS here. For some people, Tuesday is a day filled with new music releases. For me, it typically involves e-yelling at co-workers not to staple receipts together while feebly attempting to inject Lifehacker's productivity tips into my workday. (Seriously: does that shit actually work?) Alas, today this is not the case. Texas messed with me in a major way over the weekend, resulting in the loss and/or theft of my driver's license, ATM card, and cell phone, so I'm trapped at home to tend to the administrivia of my personal life; naturally I leaped at the chance to be a part of the new media machine that is Idolator. At least it gives me something to do while UPS shows up, you know? More »

Hey, it's Jess. I'm back after one week "at large"—a.k.a. hiding in my apartment watching Criterion DVD's and eating Cap'n Crunch—to steer this thing while the skipper's away at SXSW. Dan, Mike, Matos, Jim Backus, and the rest will be continuing to help keep the post count up to Dentonian standards during the day, but let's face it, you're really reading this week to see what sort of shenanigans Maura gets up to while in Austin. I'm a little bit rusty after my vacation—tips are welcome, because I think I've forgotten how to work an RSS reader—but together we can get through the next five days with a minimum of references to Vampire Weekend and/or Perez Hilton. And hey, if things get boring maybe my boss will get into a slap fight with Rachael Ray. Did we send a video camera down there?

So yes, I am leaving for Austin and the South By Southwest Music Festival tomorrow, and as I did last year, I'm on the lookout for any tips about secret shows, last-minute shutdowns, Stop Peter Bjorn & John-style shenanigans, and anything else that you think might be worthy of Idolator's coverage. Send any tips to mauraATidolatorDOTcom, and I'll be sure to reward you with a comment invite. It's not as good as an icy margarita, but it can be combined with one to great, hilarious effect. [SXSW]

Today's Guest-Blogger Makes Idolator More Whiney Than Usual

Oh, hi. I didn't see you there.

My good friend Moira asked me to guest-edit my favorite blog. I said to her, "That sounds like a great idea! Can it be the day that everyone is packing and panicking and boarding planes for SXSW so absolutely no one will ever see it?" She, of course, said "yes." As much as the snippy "whatever"s, exasperated sighs and eye rolls that Mora solely uses as conversation tools with me constitute a "yes."
