On the heels of the Fox News protest he led outside the NewsCorp Building and his album hitting No. 1, Nas stopped by the Colbert Report to chat with Stephen about why he was in a flame war with Fox and Bill O'Reilly in particular, the scrapped title of his album, and how the news media is somehow more sensationalist than ever before. Video of him performing his Fox News dis "Sly Fox" after the jump.

MTV has published further excerpts from the interview where Nas aired his feelings on his newfound nemesis Bill O'Reilly. Remember when I said the newly self-described "American psycho" was acting "levelheaded" about O'Reilly's attempt to demonize his performance at the Virginia Tech memorial concert and that Nas, unlike O'Reilly, wasn't interested in stirring up pointless controversy? Well, uh, yeah:

I don't downplay nothing, that's who I am. When he wants to come holla at me, be ready for Hannibal Lecter. He don't deserve an intelligent explanation. I'll bite his nose off! He wants to talk to me like a animal? I will be — but only to him. With everybody else I'll be a gentleman, including his wife. That's right — I'm crazy. That's how we should be to him. He isn't here to help us, and we don't need his help.

Nas also said that he would indeed go mano-a-mano on The O'Reilly Factor if asked, and while I know he was just exaggerating for effect, I really wouldn't mind seeing someone gnaw Bill O'Reilly's face off on national TV. If not Nas, perhaps an uncaged grizzly bear.

MTV sat down with Mr. Jones to talk Big Bill and the muck he tried to rake when it was announced that Nas would be performing at today's concert for the victims of Virginia Tech. And once again, a rapper proves to be more levelheaded and less interested in stirring up pointless controversy than TV's most hateable moral crusading douchebag. Well, except for the part where Nas calls O'Reilly a racist:

"He's a racist," Nas said. "Everybody has a marketing plan; his marketing plan is racism.

"He doesn't understand the younger generation. He deals with the past," Nas continued. "The people he represents are Republican, older, a generation that has nothing to do with the reality of what's happening now with my generation. ... He's not really on my radar. People like him are supposed to be taught and people like me are supposed to let n—-as like him know. I don't take him serious. His sh— is all about getting ratings or whatever. I wouldn't honor anything Bill O'Reilly has to say. It just shows you what bloodsuckers do: They abuse something like the Virginia Tech [tragedy] for show ratings. You can't talk to a person like that."

Sadly, I think Nas underestimates the number of people in "his" generation whose reality O'Reilly speaks to very directly. But the basic thrust of Bill being, you know, a manipulative, exploitative asshole who you should not bother arguing with? Word, word.

Nah Right has further shenanigans from Biill O'Reilly's week-long smear campaign against Nasir Jones; O'Reilly has appointed himself guardian angel in charge of warning America about Nasty Nas' scheduled performance at a Virginia Tech memorial concert. You should only watch if there are no sharp implements nearby.

I especially like when our Bill compares Nas ("he's got a gun conviction!") to abusive sleazebag Michael Vick because they both apparently have criminal records. Why didn't he compare him to Manson or the Enron guys or John Gotti? Oh, right, because they're not African-American men with even tangential connections to hip-hop culture. Eskay's right: Someone should email Bill Jay Smooth's wry, righteous point-by-point video takedown of O'Reilly's earlier anti-Nas rant. Not that it would probably do any good.
