Meaningless Music-Awards Ceremony To Become Even More Meaningless

The Billboard Music Awards—a music-awards show with almost zero suspense, B-list guests, and not a single wiener dog in sight—will likely be dropped by Fox, according to Jossip. The culprit? Low ratings: The most recent installment, in early December, drew in an estimated 6.1 million viewers, not enough to satisfy the network. And it would seem that Jossip's tip has been confirmed by the chart-mag itself, which ran a recent Billboard item on a proposed country spinoff that let slip the fact that "no broadcast partner has been confirmed" for the main telecast. But maybe it's for the best; after all, whatever the show's producers dream up as a show-closer for the next edition, there's no way that it can top the sheer clusterfuckery of the Nickelback/Kid Rock/ZZ Top take on "Tush" that closed out last year's ceremony.
