Nicki Minaj Channels Lil Wayne In Birdman’s “Y U Mad” Video

Sun Nov 27 2011 by Idolator Staff
"Y U Mad" may have been the question Cher was asking Nicki Minaj regarding their Twitter beef on Friday. It is also the name of the Birdman song on which the Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded rapper is featured. Clad in baggy pants, long blonde dreads, and a no-fills white tank top, the American Music Award winner announces: "I am the female Weezy!" before proceeding to prove just that, dropping yet another scene-stealing series of rhymes over another artist's track. Then the real Lil Wayne shows up to see how she measures up. Head below to check it out — we doubt you'll be mad that you did. More »

East Rutherford, New Jersey's New Meadowlands Stadium was packed over the weekend with a sold-out crowd at Hot 97 FM's annual Summer Jam. Lil Wayne Records New Music, Drops A Verse On “Fire Flames (Remix)”

Tue Nov 16 2010 by Becky Bain
It took eleven long days and some really fun-looking parties, but we finally have our hands on Lil Wayne's first recording since leaving jail. (Honestly, we're surprised it took that long.) Weezy drops a verse on Birdman's "Fire Flames" remix, off the rapper's upcoming LP Bigger Than Life, though he makes no mention of his rime at Rikers. Looks like he wants to put the last year behind him... or save it all for an impending release. (We're betting on the latter.) Jump below to listen to Weezy's first verse as a free man. More »

Jay Sean Aims To Cash In With “Like This, Like That”

Thu Oct 28 2010 by Idolator Staff
When Cash Money mogul Birdman took aim at the pop chart with "Written On Her", he turned to Jay Sean to provide butter-smooth (and radio-friendly) vocals. Now Birdman is returning the favor, contributing a few verses for Jay's new single "Like This, Like That". The British crooner told Rap-Up that he's planning to showcase his talent for R&B on upcoming album Freeze Time, and if this is what he had in mind, we're down to hear more. Check it below. More »

PHOTOS: Drake Performs “Successful” Set At Bamboozle, Honors Lil Wayne

Sun May 2 2010 by Idolator Staff

Drake delivered one of Bamboozle’s hottest sets, running through his past hits and new tracks from his upcoming debut, Thank Me Later. Drake spent a little time showing his romantic side, but also devoted time to honoring his imprisoned pal Lil Wayne. Drake encouraged the Bamboozle crowd to “make enough noise to wake Lil Wayne up”, and drew approving roars. He also brought out rapper Birdman to help perform two of his hits, “4 My Town” and “Money To Blow”, both of which feature Weezy. Watch Drake own the Bamboozle stage in our exclusive gallery. Universal Music Group Really Hoping That People Will Want To Buy Albums This Holiday Season

Wed Oct 14 2009 by Maura

So apparently that cryptic message about Nov. 23 left on Rihanna’s Web site last night was not about anything egg-related, despite its use of “ova”; instead, it was meant to be a signal that the Barbadian singer’s still-untitled fourth studio album will come out on that day. That’s the Monday before Thanksgiving, and the Monday before the holiday-shopping season kicks in. And to celebrate, Universal Music Group is apparently readying six big-name releases for that day! The list of “Super Monday” albums, via Rap-Up: More »
