Perhaps in celebration of guitarist Brian May finally publishing his doctoral thesis after all these years, Queen + Paul Rodgers—the Bad Company-vocalist-augmented version of the classic pomp-rock outfit—have decided to call their forthcoming album The Cosmos Rocks. Brian May's Crankiness To Reach Astronomical Levels

We've talked about Queen guitarist Brian May's penchant for one-sided flame wars before; the frizzy-haired fretman has used his online pulpit to take on MySpace imposters and music critics he disagrees with. His aggressive online style must have piqued someone's interest at the New York Times, because May, who studied interplanetary dust at the graduate level before Queen hit it big, is one of the contributors to the NYT's brand-new astronomy blog, Across The Universe. Even though it's only one post old, we're adding it to our RSS feed, in the hopes that May will take on the role of provocateur by either calling a rival astronomer "a nasty, grubby, spotty, unusually ignorant 15 year old creep," or saying that he'll "apply a fist or two" to anyone who questions the idea that the universe is accelerating because of antigravitational forces.
