Ray Winstone To Join Steven Soderbergh's Guided By Voices-Singing Professionals

Last month, we told you about Cleo, Steven Soderbergh's musical about the life of Cleopatra that will supposedly star Catherine Zeta-Jones, Hugh Jackman, and the songs of Guided By Voices. (Also it's in 3-D.) Today, a new castmember was announced for the flick: Ray Winstone, whose musical-acting chops can be seen in the above scene from Ladies And Gentlemen The Fabulous Stains. Occasionally David Bowie has to do something other than be married to Iman. His latest side-project is a guest appearance in the upcoming SpongeBob movie Atlantis SquarePantis, for which he provides the voice of Lord Royal Highness, the king of Atlantis. Bowie's character will presumably lead SpongeBob on an epic journey through glam rock, androgyny, and critically acclaimed musical experimentation. Or, you know, he'll somehow unwittingly help SpongeBob and Patrick provoke stodgy Squidward and cranky Mr. Krabs. [CMJ]

"Clay Aiken, who became a music superstar following his success on the American Idol television series, will join the Tony Award-winning Best Musical, Monty Python's SPAMALOT, making his Broadway debut in the role of Sir Robin, at the Shubert Theatre, New York, from January 18 to May 4, 2008." Over/under on number of huge pieces of oaktag bearing awkward sexual innuendoes being confiscated by ushers at Aiken's opening-night performance: 25. [PRNewswire]
