Idolator Live-Blogs The CMA Awards: This Should Be Quite The Carnival Ride

Welcome to Idolator's liveblog of the 41st Annual CMA Awards, coming to you live from Nashville and my couch in Astoria. Expected tonight: Carrie Underwood, Brad Paisley with a marching band, and this band called ... Eagles Fly? Where Eagles Dare? Oh, right. The Eagles. I don't know much about them, but apparently they have a new album out? More »

Two Nights, Two Liveblogs: Because You Shouldn't Have A Life, Either

Remember how a ringing plurality of you wanted us to liveblog the Brad Paisley-tastic 41st Annual CMA Awards, which will be airing tonight at 8 p.m. ET? Well, your wish is granted: I'll be back on the live-blogging beat this evening, having finally cast off all the demons that attached themselves to my soul the last time I did this sort of thing. (I do, however, have an emergency bottle of prosecco in the fridge, in case the Eagles' performance—oh yes are they performing tonight—drags on for longer than 10 minutes.) And tomorrow, we're sending Kate to the taping of mtvU's Woodies, since she's the only member of the Idolator staff who actually gets the channel; not only will she be in the "liveblogging pit," which I am hoping comes equipped with those plastic balls that are in the IKEA playroom, we somehow got her red-carpet access, which means that she'll get to come face-to-face with all those dudes who she's only seen through the eyes of bandom writers. And Annie Lennox. Suggest any questions you might have for them in the comments section!

This bit of bait also got us thinking: Maura is already planning on visiting the Idolator floptrap house in New Jersey to live-blog the BET Awards, but should we also live-blog the CMA's? Does Idolator's audience really care about the country music? And so we put it you, the people: More »

Jess' not-so-secret admiration for Brad Paisley will no doubt have its flames fanned on Nov. 7, when the Country Music Association Awards air; Paisley and George Strait lead the pack with five nominations each. Also of note: Carrie Underwood's legally questionable, but oh-so-satisfying clip for "Before He Cheats" is up for the Video of the Year award. [cmaawards.com]
