It is with a heavy heart that the music industry, and the world, says goodbye to one of the greatest female vocalists of all time today. Etta James, the legendary soul singer most famously known for her 1960 rendition of the softly swaying love song "At Last," passed away in California on Friday (January 20) after a years-long battle with leukemia. James' impact has reverberated through nearly six decades of pop music and will continue to influence future generations of musicians, as evidenced by the umpteen covers of her hits by artists and reality TV talent competition hopefuls alike.
For a taste of this, we've compiled a list of our 10 favorite Etta James covers below. Watch Adele, Beyoncé, Christina Aguilera, Kelly Clarkson and more pay tribute to the legend after the jump. More »

Cyndi Lauper Pulls A Christina Aguilera, Forgets Words To National Anthem
Sun Sep 11 2011 by Idolator Staff
Why did Francis Scott Key make the lyrics to "The Star Spangled Banner" so damn difficult to remember? That's what pop stars must be wondering, since Cyndi Lauper is only the latest diva to flub the words to the national anthem (after Christina Aguilera's patriotic snafu at this year's Super Bowl). The Lady Gaga champion was tapped to perform our nation's theme song at the U.S. Open in New York after a moment of silence to tribute the victims of 9/11, but unfortunately jumbled up some of the words. Has this girl been too busy having fun to brush up on the lyrics to this venerable tune? Head below to watch.

While promoting her new album Memphis Blues (out today) on The Joy Behar Show yesterday, Cyndi Lauper was inevitably asked about her friend and partner in AIDS activism Lady Gaga. In particular, Joy referred to Gaga's upcoming Rolling Stone cover: "I mean, she has guns on her boobs—what's that about?" The Morning Mix: No Doubt Record New Album, Tease Us With A Twitpic
Fri May 14 2010 by Becky Bain
Did You Hear?
:: No Doubt are recording their new album as we write this! They even uploaded a photo to prove it! Looks like Gwen finally got the hang of Twitpic. [Vulture]
:: Back when they were married and could stand one another, Nas and Kelis filmed a reality show about their relationship. It never aired (blame their extremely messy, very public divorce), but you can check out one clip from the doomed show here. [Hip-Hop Wired]
:: Cyndi Lauper may have been fired on The Apprentice, but she'll be back on TV in no time—the pop legend will be filming a reality show (produced by Mark Burnett) about her life. Can she please have Lady Gaga on as her wacky best friend? Please? [Lifeline Live]
:: Non-surprise of the day: the Jackson family is not happy about those videos of Paris and Blanket hitting YouTube. [PopEater]
:: We seriously have no idea how Gaga can stand upright in half the shoes she wears. This uneven pair is no exception. [Just Jared] More »
