Beyonce To Be Honored With Monument In Houston: Morning Mix

Tue Jan 31 2012 by Idolator Staff
Did You Hear?

:: It looks like Beyonce will be the next star to be immortalized in her hometown of Houston. It's said that a monument and mini museum for the new mother is already in the works. Will fans of Bey flock to Texas to see all the memorabilia? We'll have to wait until September 4, which happens to be Beyonce's birthday, when the monument is scheduled to open. [Pink Is The New Blog]

:: Wedding bells have rung for another American Idol alum. Danny Gokey and Leyicet Peralta exchanged vows in front of a small group of family and friends in Florida last weekend. "We are so thankful to have found each other and now be able to spend the rest of our lives together." [People]

:: Remember the woman who tattooed Drake's name on her forehead? Well, Jenelle Evans, star of Teen Mom 2, has become the latest person to get a Drizzy-inspired tat, albeit in a more reserved place on her body. [E! Online]

:: Get ready to spice up your life! In a recent interview Mel B spilled the beans that the girls would be together again to perform for Queen Elizabeth's Diamond Jubilee. Too bad Sporty Spice didn't confirm (or deny!) rumors that the girls would be performing at the 2012 London Olympics. [Rolling Stone]

Thu Jun 10 2010 by Erika Brooks Adickman

Yee haw! The stars country music took the stage last night at Nashville’s Bridgestone Arena last night for the 2010 CMT Music Awards. It was an evening full of the unexpected. Taylor Swift (who needed an extra arm to carry home all of her Grammy awards) walked away with nothing, John Mayer jammed with Keith Urban, Jersey Shore’s Snooki and “The Situation” presented with chef Paula Deen, and we’re still trying to figure out what Kelly Clarkson was doing with a baby alligator at the CMT after party. Flip through to see all highlights from CMT’s Hootenanny. More »

Lady Antebellum And Taio Cruz Control The Charts

Wed Mar 10 2010 by Robbie Daw
Sade had a nice three week stretch at the top of the Billboard Top 200 Albums chart, but Lady Antebellum's Need You Now has returned to #1 and bumped Soldier Of Love down a notch. Meanwhile, over on the Hot 100 singles chart, British crooner Taio Cruz lands his first bona fide U.S. hit as his Ludacris-featuring single "Break Your Heart" jumps from #53 to #1 after its first full week on sale. Danny Gokey’s First Single The Latest Sign That He Wants To Be Your Inspiration

Fri Nov 6 2009 by Maura

The first single from American Idol third-place finisher Danny Gokey premiered on a Wisconsin country-music station this morning, and it’s probably not going to come as much of a surprise to people who followed him during his long American Idol journey. The track, “It’s Only,” is an inspirational ditty that’s clearly channeling “Jesus, Take The Wheel,” and his breathy voice is nearly drowned out by a super-mournful slide guitar at various moments. (The phrase Chicken Soup For The Ears bubbled into my brain at more than one point.) I don’t foresee hearing this in my dentist’s office, but I think it’ll perform well thanks to its holiday-season release timing and heart-filled message. [MJ] More »

Danny Gokey Already Moving On To The “Wedding Singer” Phase Of His Career

Thu Jul 23 2009 by Maura

Are you getting married soon? Does your guest list have a low quotient of dorky uncles who will dance inappropriately to “Celebration” and other wedding staples? Well, Ryan Seacrest has the solution for you! The overemployed American Idol host is throwing a “Perfect Wedding” contest in which he’s giving away a full-blown marital extravaganza, complete with invitations, catering, and Tori Spelling appearance. (Oh, Los Angeles.) And the piece de resistance—a reception performance by none other than polarizing Idol hopeful Danny “Screech” Gokey! More »

Fox is rerunning the Michael Jackson-themed episode of last season’s American Idol on Monday night, because hey, what better way to commemorate the man and his work than to subject America to Megan Joy’s caw-cawing during “Rockin’ Robin” and Danny Gokey’s awkward-uncle spin on “P.Y.T.”? Relive my recap of the night here, and recall that Kris Allen had started to kind of stand out from the pack even then! [BuddyTV] More »

I dunno… something tells me that trying to pick up bespectacled American Idol yarler Danny Gokey with the line “I so badly want to be touched by your ministry”–while at church–would probably work. But really, is doing so worth the cheap thrill–and subsequent guilt? Is it??? [Really Bad Hair Day via Top Idol] More »

A Quick Guide To Your “American Idol” Pre-Finale Controversies

Mon May 18 2009 by Maura

With a little more than 24 hours to go until the American Idol finale, a few bits of news are trickling out… that, of course, have nothing to do with what finalists Adam Lambert and Kris Allen might be singing during tomorrow night’s competition. Because if there’s one thing about this year, it’s that the performances were usually the least important thing! After the jump, Danny Gokey is still dumb, Katy Perry gets her clothing bleeped, and no one knows who’ll be judging next year. More »

Kris Allen is in! Adam Lambert is in! And Danny Gokey is out! And now… American Idol is actually a race? More »

“American Idol” Is Ready To Be Heartless

Wed May 13 2009 by Maura

Only three people left on American Idol! And it was the 300th episode! And there was a shoutout to “Idol Gives Back” even though that episode was canceled last year! And the judges spent way too much time fighting, because they are a bunch of children who can’t stand the idea of their time in the spotlight coming to an end next week. Ratings and reactions after the jump. More »
