Hitmaker DJ Khaled returns as the master of ceremonies — and of disaster — in the chaotic new video for new single “Take It To The Head”, shot amid the rushing flood waters and flashing flames of the Earthquake-inspired amusement park ride at Universal Studios Orlando. But when Khaled’s all-star lineup — Chris Brown, Nicki Minaj, Rick Ross and Lil Wayne — all pile onto the same track, is it a sure-fire hit or a catastrophe in the making? What’s clear is, with all the cataclysmic action around him, it’s easier than ever for the Miami DJ to remain in the background and simply nod along to the beat.

The video reminds us that Khaled is a bit like the Michael Bay of hip-hop — his productions tend to be bloated and formulaic, but they somehow tend to work. The Colin Tilley-directed visual, which also includes cameos from Drake, Busta Rhymes and Birdman, is Khaled’s first real stab at following up his #1 smash “I’m On One”.

While it’s still a fairly standard Khaled-plus-everyone clip, a few images stand out. One is the placement of Chris Brown (among all the other stars on set) in a fenced-in area ringed with wire — it’s almost as if people think he’s dangerous… And another is that of a bewigged Nicki Minaj, wearing a green tutu, spitting a profane verse that recalls the Nicki we knew before she became the candy-coated pop star of “Super Bass”. Indeed, hearing the Harajuku Barbie conjure such racy imagery is at least as jarring as the subway car that crashes halfway through the clip.

If Khaled was looking for a blockbuster-level video that might “win awards”, as he told MTV, then he picked an appropriate backdrop. But a disaster zone does sometimes seem like an odd fit for such a smooth, head-nodding track.

R. Kelly is good-looking, charming and successful enough to inspire ladies to engage in all sorts of kinky play with him in the bedroom — but in his new video for “It’s On”, Kells is more interested in getting teased by women who work the poles. In the clip, the R&B star, evidently well past his love-dovey relationship phase, holes up in a strip club with Ace Hood and DJ Khaled, focusing his attention and his fantasies on the flexible girls on stage.

“It’s On” is the first track off Kells’ upcoming album, Black Panties. Yes, that’s the actual name of the album. And no, that’s not the same album as his other album due this year, Write Me Back. A man this busy has time to visit strip clubs?

Are they or aren’t they dating? One never knows with supposed pals Kanye West and Kim Kardashian, though ‘Ye has fun stirring up speculation with new song “Theraflu”, which references his old love Amber Rose and her fiance Wiz Khalifa by also name-dropping Kardashian: “And the whole industry wants to f*ck your old chick. Only n*gga I got respect for is Wiz. And I admit I fell in love with Kim around the same time she fell in love with him.” West then escalates the rhetoric by throwing a lyrical jab at Kardashian’s ex-husband Kris Humphries. “Lucky I ain’t had Jay drop him from the team,” Kanye raps in “Theraflu”, seemingly giving a nod to the fact that his Watch The Throne buddy Jay-Z is co-owner of Humphries’ team the New Jersey Nets.

It’s a notable chart week for several factors, not the least of which is the boost — a whopping jump of 3,140% — Amy Winehouse’s 2007 LP Back To Black sees following the London soul singer’s death. Other interesting Billboard Top 200 highlights: Adele’s 21 returns to #1 for an 11th week, Kidz Bop 20 enters at #2, 3 Doors Down’s aptly debut at #3 with Time Of My Life and Beyonce’s 4 is at #4 in its fourth week.

Winehouse tragically passed away at the young age of 27, with news breaking on Saturday. That means Back To Black‘s #9 re-entry on the Top 200 is all the more  impressive, given that Billboard‘s chart cut-off is Sunday evening. The publication noted yesterday that the Grammy-winning album sold 37,000 copies total last week, up from the 1,000 it moved the week prior.

Also re-entering the chart is Winehouse’s 2003 debut LP Frank, at #57 with 8,000 copies sold. Billboard points out that more than 95% of her albums sold last week were digital downloads.

Meanwhile, Adele’s 21 returns to the top of the chart for a 11th non-consecutive week, with an additional 77,000 copies sold.

Other new entries in the Top 10 this week: “I’m On One” mastermind DJ Khaled’s We The Best Forever at #5 (53,000) and 311′s Universal Pulse at #7 (46,000).

DJ Khaled may not have emerged anything close to victorious in our Song of Summer 2011 poll, but the “I’m On One” artist is giving it another go with the new track “Legendary” off his immodestly-titled LP We The Best Forever, out this Tuesday. Khaled brings out some pretty big R&B guns — Ne-Yo, Keyshia Cole, and Chris Brown (sans bowtie) — on this hip hop tune about staying strong and thinking you’re pretty great. Is this trio even stronger than the heavy-hitting guests featured on “I’m On One” — Lil Wayne, Drake, and Rick Ross? Listen below.

“Everybody’s gonna fight / And everybody’s gonna fall / But the ones that get up are always the strongest,” Keyshia belts throughout the track. Moderately catchy but overall unremarkable, “Legendary” just sounds too much like stuff we’ve already heard before (particularly lyrics-wise) for us to get too excited about.

The results are in! Idolator readers voted Born This Way their most-anticipated album of 2011, so perhaps it should come as no surprise that they voted the LP’s third single as the 2011 Song of Summer in our poll. The handicapped fish-lady can join last year’s winner Enrique Iglesias poolside to sip pina coladas and soak up some rays (with “The Edge Of Glory” playing on repeat, of course). In the end, Mother Monster won with a landslide victory, eating up 64% of the votes. Britney Spears offered up the stiffest competition, coming in at second with 34% — leaving only 2% to divide between the rest of the contenders. Katy Perry put up a slight fight with 1% while everyone else was barely even in the running. Pitbull and Adele, in particular, had surprisingly small showings given that both of their songs can be heard all over the Top 40 these days. Total votes? 1,091,242.

While we congratulate the wacky pianist (and the dearly departed Clarence Clemons), we’re not sure an actual victor to take the title “Song of Summer” has emerged this year. After all, the Emmy-nominated “3 Way” star’s “Judas” and “Born This Way” are just as ubiquitous right now, and as much as we like “Edge Of Glory,” it’s not as laid-back and barbecue-friendly as other songs we can think of. If you walked up to a bunch of people on the street and asked them to define which song said “Summer 2011,” we bet you’d get a lot of head-scratching and disparate answers.

Still, we extend our kudos to Lady Gaga on her glorious achievement. Not too shabby for an intern!

THE PLAYERS: Mr. Worldwide told us that he originally wanted Shakira to sing on this, his very first chart-topping single, “but she was going through some personal things.” Hence Miami songstress Nayer, who’s signed to Pitbull’s Mr. 305 Inc., getting her big break on “Give Me Everything.” The song also gives Ne-Yo a much-needed hit after the disappointing performance of Libra Scale.
MOST INFECTIOUS LINE: “I’m tip-toein’ to keep blowin’, I got it locked up like Lindsay Lohan.”

THE PLAYERS: Hit-wise, Brit’s been having a full-on chart Renaissance after teaming back up with her original producer Max Martin. And the video for “I Wanna Go” proves the Femme Fatale still has a sly sense of humor after all these years.

THE PLAYERS: Dr. Luke and Max Martin crafted many hits on Katy Perry’s Teenage Dream LP, but the powers that be saved the best for last as far as a single release. An epic (and hilarious) music video, a self-deprecating pop star, a killer sax solo and one hell of a hook — what more do you want when you’re basking in the summer sun?
MOST INFECTIOUS LINE: “Think I need a ginger ale, that was such an epic fail.”

“Super Bass” — Nicki Minaj
THE PLAYERS: Originally only a bonus track on the deluxe edition of Minaj’s debut album Pink Friday, “Super Bass” has gone on to become her first bona fide Top 10 single as a main artist. Another jam aided by a vivid, high energy video.
MOST INFECTIOUS LINE: “Can’t you hear that boom-ba-doom-boom, boom-ba-doom-boom bass?”

“The Edge Of Glory” — Lady Gaga
THE PLAYERS: Mother Monster raises a glass and pounds the synths in honor of her grandfather. The song took on unexpected significance when the music video premiered mere days before sax player Clarence Clemons, who’s featured here, died.
MOST INFECTIOUS LINE: “Another shot before we kiss the other side tonight, yeah, baby, tonight, yeah, baby.”
PEAK CHART POSITION (SO FAR): #3

“I’m On One”, the second single off DJ Khaled’s upcoming We The Best Forever LP, has clearly become a leading contender for Summer 2011′s hottest hip hop jam. Sweetening its chances is the all-star jam’s moody music video, which was shot in Miami and features rhyme-droppers Drake, Rick Ross and Lil Wayne. (Yes, there’s room for all of them under Khaled’s umbrella).

Director Gil Green is no stranger to collaborating with Khaled, Ross and Weezy; respectively, he was previously behind the lens for such videos as “I’m So Hood,” “Hustlin’” and “Lollipop.”

But as with the song itself, it’s Drake who is front and center in the “I’m On One” video, posturing and bragging (in his own home!) about money, getting high and being young and cocky. Did we expect anything else from the clip for this Top 10-charting jam? Nah.

Just when you thought Pitbull might take the cake for having Summer 2011′s most heavily-populated album with regards to featured vocalists, along comes the full tracklist for We The Best Forever, the fifth album from “I’m On One” hit-maker DJ Khaled. The set, out July 19, boasts a guest roster that includes Ludacris, Mary J. Blige, Keisha Cole, Ne-Yo, Cee Lo Green, Busta Rhymes, Akon, B.o.B and Cory Gunz. BET’s annual awards showcase took over LA’s Shrine Auditorium in style, and though Chris Brown led the field with the most nominations, it was far from clear that he would own the night. The 2011 edition of the show was packed with emotional moments, like Nicki Minaj’s acceptance speech, and some classy, brassy performances by Mary J. Blige and Jill Scott. (Also appearing: Rick Ross, bare-chested again.) You knew the Beyoncé performance would rock the house, even if it was recorded at Glastonbury — but did Ms. Kelly Rowland steal the show with her (Janet Jackson-inspired?) number? East Rutherford, New Jersey’s New Meadowlands Stadium was packed over the weekend with a sold-out crowd at Hot 97 FM’s annual Summer Jam. Young Money was definitely in the house, as Lil Wayne, Birdman and Drake all took to the stage at the fest. Also in attendance: Chris Brown, Rick Ross (who took a cue from his shirtless VIBE cover and performed with his flowery shirt unbuttoned), Wiz Khalifa and Lloyd Banks. Considering that all DJ Khaled does is win, it seems unnecessary to even weigh in on what we think about his latest track “I’m On One.” Certainly the well-connected producer could do worse than tap the soon-to-be-unplugged Lil Wayne and the Sprite-ly Drake to appear on his new record (both of whom he has partied with recently). So has the forever-triumphant DJ learned any humility since his last major hit? Head below to hear “I’m On One” for the answer.

“All I care about is money and the city that I’m from / I’mma sip until I feel it, I’mma smoke until it’s done,” Drake sings on the nihilistic, downbeat jam.

It’s a totally listenable effort — but if all these guys do is win, why does everyone on this track sound so depressed?

Last night, Lil Wayne was living it up down in Miami at his Welcome Home Party thrown by Cash Money Records, just three days after his release from Rikers Island. Weezy made his grand entrance with a lady on each arm (dressed in Marie Antoinette wigs and corsets) and a lit cigar in hand. Of those celebrating the I Am Not A Human Being rapper’s long awaited return were Nicki Minaj, DJ Khaled, Drake (in a snazzy blue suit) and Jay Sean. Is it just us, or does DJ Khaled’s remix of “All I Do Is Win” sound a heck of a lot like the original? Well, perhaps the secret to Khaled’s winning streak resides in the fact that he is pretty much doing the same thing twice. Case in point: his music video for “All I Do Is Win (Remix)”. It seems that all the winning rapper has done this time around (in addition to swapping out his first list of big name fellow rappers with a roster of new ones) is to nix the fancy cars for girls in sporting gear. A star studded group gathered in Miami studio this Memorial Day Weekend to shoot DJ Khaled’s music video for his “All I Do Is Win” remix. The video, directed by Gil Green (DJ Khaled’s “We Takin’ Over” and Rick Ross’ “Everyday I’m Hustlin’”), included a list of stars so long you might mistake the shoot for a second remake of “We Are The World”. Among those on the remixed track and in attendance: Rick Ross, P. Diddy, Fabolous, Fat Joe, Busta Rhymes, Rich Kid, and Harajuku Barbie Nicki Minaj. Flip through to catch all the behind the scenes action and keep an eye out for Cassie who dropped by the set.

Earlier this morning, a three-hour slow-speed chase ensued around the streets of Los Angeles ensued, the type of chase that takes over local TV stations and causes people to try and make themselves microfamous via the power of Internet jokes. As the LAPD tailed a white Bentley around southern LA, paparazzi-fueled rumors that the driver may have been a “troubled” celebrity spread around the Internet’s gossip channels, and somehow that celebrity became master of the cameo-studded single DJ Khaled—even though he was some 2,350 miles away at the time. Khaled took to his MySpace blog to dispel any rumors:

This is DJ Khaled and due to recent press and news reports I feel compelled to
release a statement. Just to be clear I am in Miami, FL working on Rick Ross’
album, Deeper Than Rap. I am not in LA where there are reports that I have been
