Sure, we've needled Warner Music Group chairman/CEO Edgar Bronfman a bit on this site in the past. And maybe we have been a little too critical. Taking a huge raise while his company crumbles? Who cares? His hometown newspaper essentially declaring him incompetent to run a business? A mere shiny distraction alongside his greatness. Giving sweetheart deals to his relatives to run subsidiary labels that don't actually release music, as HITS is reporting? Uh oh.

A few days after M.I.A. joked about getting Kanye West to marry her so she could get a green card and stay in the U.S. long enough for them to collaborate, the Edmonton Sun claims that she's going to the tie the knot with Benjamin Brewer, a guitarist for the NY band Exit. Mr. Brewer is also the son of Edgar Bronfman, Jr., the Warner Bros. CEO we can't get enough of. While there's been no official statement from MIA or her beau's rich-as-fuck Canadian family, we wish the alleged couple all the best, and we even have a song recommendation for the wedding reception.

It's been a rough week for Edgar Bronfman, Jr. First, his hometown newspaper questioned whether he's cut out for the business world at all, then Standard & Poor's announced that the company's credit rating is about as bad as mine. However, one bit of good news: Forbes had originally reported that S&P had lowered the rating to BB-, when in fact it was "affirming" company's previous rating at that level. Also, S&P stated that concerns over the viability of Warner's business model was "somewhat tempered" by "its focus on significantly reducing acquisitions". If Edgar can just stop purchasing failed Hampton concert promoters and labels with one marketable band who might just jump ship anyway, we may have enough good news to merit another raise! [Forbes]
