Maybe Now Persia Will Get Her Chance To Really Shine

The really-pretty-great MC contest Ego Trip's (White) Rapper Show will return for another season, and this time, it'll be an all-white-woman competition. Auditions start this Saturday at, of all places, a Dave & Buster's in Chicago—surely some enterprising rapper out there will try to freestyle along with the Dance Dance Revolution machine's music?—but somehow there are no auditions set for New York City?! (Perhaps I should instead hit up the Philly auditions, which will no doubt attract a boatload of G-Child acolytes.)

"Ego Trip's (White) Rapper Show" Wraps It Up

Last night, Ego Trip's (White) Rapper Show closed out its inaugural season on VH1, and the Atlanta MC Shamrock was crowned the $100,000 winner, defying both our predictions and runner-up John Brown's incessant self-branding. The show threw a wrap party at Southpaw in Brooklyn, and it featured performances by (White) Rapper Show contestants G-Child, Persia, and John Brown, as well as a few choice freestyles, and pleas for a second season, from host MC Serch. Here at the flophouse, we can't stop unpacking the layers of irony in VH1's Ego Trip's (White) Rapper Show. We are pleased to see the program progressing according to our plan: 100 Proof and G-Child were certainly a fun pair to watch (especially G-Child's little b-boy dance—how cute!), but Serch and Prince Paul recognized their dearth of talent and reclaimed their green Converse.
