‘Glee’ Cast Go Their Own Way, Take On Fleetwood Mac’s ‘Rumours’

Tue May 3 2011 by Robbie Daw
As with the Halloween "Rocky Horror Glee Show" episode, Glee is once again mining 1970s pop culture for a theme. Fox's hit series will explore Fleetwood Mac's classic Grammy-winning 1977 album Rumours in tonight's episode titled, uh, "Rumours." (And what coincidental timing, since Stevie Nicks' first album in 10 years, In Your Dreams, was released today.) Head below to hear McKinley High's finest voices take on three of Mick Fleetwood, Lindsey Buckingham and Co.'s best-known singles. More »

PHOTOS: Pop Stars Who Have Met U.S. Presidents

Tue Apr 6 2010 by Erika Brooks Adickman

Yesterday, our favorite Canadian crooner Justin Bieber performed as part of the White House’s annual Easter Egg Roll. But while the Bieb is certainly a musical trailblazer (youngest artist to hit #1 on the Billboard chart in 45 years!), he’s not the only pop star to rub elbows with the Commander-in-Chief. Stevie Nicks, The Jonas Brothers, and even Jordin Sparks have spent time with presidents past (under serious secret service surveillance, of course). What’s the best match of pop star and president? Flip through the gallery and decide for yourself. More »

Madonna’s Rumored Split From Guy Ritchie: It Could Help Her Music Career! (Maybe!)

Wed Oct 15 2008 by Michaelangelo Matos

You’ll have to forgive us for wondering, in passing, whether the reportage that Madonna is (supposedly) splitting up with husband Guy Ritchie might be in some way a ploy to get people to buy her latest album that no one really cares that much about, Hard Candy. That’s just celebrity fatigue. But it did lead us to a serious question: has a divorce–like an arrest, or a sex scandal–ever really helped a record’s popularity?

Idolator’s Tribute-Video Treasury Can’t Quit You

Fri Sep 26 2008 by Kate Richardson

At their best, tribute videos–like trailers–are about emotional manipulation. Through a combination of music and carefully selected clips, they twist your senses until you’re almost convinced that you actually care about ER characters or even evil sharks. Given that, it’s no surprise that there’s a bounty of Brokeback Mountain videos that employ aggressive emotional exploitation tactics. Two of these tributes stand above the rest. In a bout of tragic genius someone–with a fondness for anime–came so very close to perfection, but ultimately failed… big time. Join me after the jump for tent sex, Eiffel 65, “Landslide,” and, unfortunately, Billy Corgan.

Idolator’s Top Five Breakup Songs: Guaranteed To Be “I Will Survive”-Free

Fri Dec 7 2007 by kater

AskMen.com recently compiled a list of their top ten breakup songs, including the not-really-about-a-break-up “No Woman, No Cry,” “Achy Breaky Heart,” the freaking Cake cover of “I Will Survive,” and the heinous “I (Just) Died in Your Arms” by Cutting Crew. They had the decency to put “Go Your Own Way” by Fleetwood Mac at No. 2, but most of the list is pretty dreary–even for breakup songs! So I thought I’d make my own.

Essential Videos for Your Life

Fri Sep 21 2007 by kater

YouTube and other video sites are often used for evil, but sometimes you find clips that you immediately can’t live without, specifically old or obscure musical performances that would otherwise never see the light of day, except for maybe on a more serious-minded VH1 nostalgia program. Also, tribute videos. In an attempt to curb my compulsion to write four or five individual posts about my favorite online video finds, I have complied the essentials for you. After the jump: Dolly, Stevie, hot Latinos.
