Goldfrapp Vs. Hurts: Who Did The Better Remix Of Lady Gaga’s “Judas”

Tue May 17 2011 by Robbie Daw
What ever have we here? One of our favorite longstanding British duos, Goldfrapp, reworked Lady Gaga's single “Judas” for the remix EP that was just added to iTunes. But one of our favorite freshman British duos, Hurts, also took a crack at the naughty religious pop jam! How are we supposed to take sides? Our heads are spinning, holy fools that we are. Listen to them both after the jump! More »

Sat Apr 16 2011 by Idolator Staff

Manchester’s Hurts swept into Coachella’s first day aiming to share a few of their epic pop melodies, and — despite the fact that they dressed for their mid-day desert set in tailored suits and ties — appeared perfectly comfortable. Indeed, they ended up making the crowd feel pretty wonderful. Singer Theo Hutchcraft and synth player Adam Anderson played a string of hits from their debut album, Happiness. Check our exclusive gallery of Kylie Minogue’s favorite duet partners below. More »

Hurts Offer Up A Typically Dramatic Video For “Sunday”

Wed Feb 23 2011 by Robbie Daw
Our favorite melancholy synth duo out of England, Hurts, shot the video for new single "Sunday" in Romania earlier this year. And if you're wondering what it's about, well, here's what crooner Theo Hutchcraft told Digital Spy last week: "We go to an exotic, beautiful place, think of a theme that no-one else will understand except us, and surround us with women so people won't ask us what it's about!" No, he wasn't kidding. Watch below. More »

Your Favorite Christmas Song Of 2010 Is…

Fri Dec 24 2010 by Becky Bain
You voted — and voted, and voted — and it turns out your favorite Christmas single of 2010 is "All I Want For Christmas Is New Years" by Hurts! The Manchester duo triumphed with 47% in our poll, raking in over 10,000 votes! Kylie Minogue's "Let It Snow" came in a close second with 43% (9,282 votes), and, shockingly, Kanye's "Christmas In Harlem" came in dead last, with only 21 ballots cast in his favor. Somehow, we think 'Ye will be alright.

Now that Hurts' Theo and Adam have triumphed over not only Xmas single Queen Mariah Carey, but major music acts like Coldplay, Rihanna, and the juggernaut that is Glee, maybe they won't be so damn solemn this Christmas. Jump below to watch the video for their championing song — and happy holidays, Idolators! More »

Hurts Attend A Festive Funeral In “All I Want For Christmas Is New Year’s Day” Video

Mon Dec 6 2010 by Robbie Daw
We have to admit, Manchester duo Hurts served up some of our favorite melancholy synth pop in 2010—from their breakout hit "Wonderful Life" to their dirge-y Kylie Minogue duet "Devotion." And so it only seems fitting that the lads cap off the year with a holiday single. Of course, Hurts wouldn't be Hurts if the video didn't feature Theo and Adam solemnly walking in the snow to a funeral—albeit one where a lit-up Christmas tree springs out of a grave! Watch "All I Want For Christmas Is New Year's Eve" below. More »

Hurts’ “Stay” Video Is Full Of Beauty And Gloom

Wed Oct 13 2010 by Robbie Daw
Hurts are following up their UK hit "Wonderful Life" with the ballad "Stay," the video for which finds the duo brooding on a gray beach while beautiful blonde dancers in green flowing dresses twirl around them. It's a very "on a budget" affair, but a scenic one that somehow manages to appear both pleasant and dreary at the same time. Watch below. More »

Hurts Bring Their “Wonderful Life” To German ‘X Factor’

Fri Oct 1 2010 by Robbie Daw
We scandalously overlooked moody synth duo Hurts performing their single "Wonderful Life" on the German version of The X Factor earlier this week. Chalk it up to us being blinded by Kylie Minogue's excellent cover of the tune for Radio 1 Live Lounge on Tuesday. As PopJustice points out, the camera work during the lads' performance is "best classified as 'odd'." Then again, Expressionism... More »

Wed Sep 29 2010 by Robbie Daw
With Kylie Minogue's current single "Get Outta My Way" officially released this week, the fashionable Aussie diva threw on a sheer blue button-down shirt and blue pants and headed on over to BBC Radio 1's Live Lounge, where she performed her latest jam along with a few of her other songs. She also turned out a moving cover of Hurts' angsty synth hit "Wonderful Life." Enjoy the photos and listen below! More »
