FRIDAY VIDEO TIME: The Highly Subjective Totally Debatable List Of The Best Songs That Start With The Letter “I”

Fri May 28 2010 by Erika Brooks Adickman
It's "Friday Video Time", when we honor the top songs over the last 50 years that start with a specific letter of the alphabet. This week we cover the letter “I", and our list was particularly hard to whittle down (just flip through your iPod and see how many songs start with "I" or "I'm"). But we somehow managed! Our collection includes a boy band, some British chaps, and an R & B artist, long before he trapped himself in a closet. Don’t agree with us on our selections? We're cool with that. Just leave your comments below, and don’t forget, we’ll be doing the letter “J” next Friday. So if there’s a song you think deserves a slot, give us a shout.

Music Games Need To Fake The Funk, Too

Thu Apr 9 2009 by Lucas Jensen

Though I remain an avid Rock Band and Guitar Hero player, I’ve long ago stopped caring about the releases of new songs for in-game play. I have more than enough to play right now, and I’m broke as a joke most days, so downloadable content is out—well, unless those songs can be as good as one of the new tracks that will appear on the first portable edition of Rock Band. See for yourself; one of these things is not like the others.

Michael Jackson Pours Cold Water All Over Jackson 5 Reunion Plans

Fri Oct 31 2008 by Maura

The other day, Jermaine Jackson was shooting off his mouth about next year bringing a reunion of the Jacksons, one that, in his words, would be “more like a family affair, Janet’s going to open and, of course, the original Jackson 5 … Michael, Randy and the whole family.” Well, Michael apparently wasn’t apprised of this before Jermaine started working the press angle, because he’s released a statement saying that he is too busy in the studio to fritter his time away with his siblings. “My brothers and sisters have my full love and support, and we’ve certainly shared many great experiences, but at this time I have no plans to record or tour with them… I am now in the studio developing new and exciting projects that I look forward to sharing with my fans in concert soon.” Some of you may hope that said projects are more “exciting” than the Fergie version of “Beat It,” but I’m sad because this means Michael won’t be around to lend his vocals to my favorite song from Jermaine’s catalog:

Jermaine Dupri Is Going To Bring The Jackson 5 To Atlanta, Come Hell, High Water, Or High Winds

Tue Dec 11 2007 by Maura

At least, that’s what he claimed on his radio show the other night, in typically understated fashion. The hip-hop impresario counts among his holdings the Atlanta club Studio 72, and he’s throwing a Jackson 5-themed New Year’s Eve party this year. And the theme is so driving the party, Michael, Marlon, Jermaine, Tito, and Jackie–and maybe, just for good measure, Dupri’s girlfriend Janet–are all going to be there! (Maybe.)

The Jackson 5 Reunion: Let The Guessing Game Begin

Mon Nov 26 2007 by jharv

Only a week ago, the Jackson 5 were only mulling over a possible reunion tour for 2008. Now come reports that Jermaine has informed the BBC that the brothers Jackson, already suited up in their shiny Victory spaceman jackets, are “set to unite” with Michael “playing some role.” You can almost see the smoke pouring out of the Internet now.
