The Worst Album Cover Of The Year Tournament: Welcome To A Very Expensive, Very Purple Bash

It's a new day, so let's put politics aside and move on to the "Bad Photoshop" bracket in Idolator's inaugural Worst Album Cover Of The Year tournament. In one corner, we have the No. 8 seed, Jennifer Lopez's $60,000 ode to the power of sparkles. And in opposition, we have Perry Farrell's Satellite Party, which shows that Mr. Farrell's computer-art skillz are almost as good as his taste in guests. Whichever one wins, we know one thing: Staring at the above one-two punch means that our field of vision is going to be tinted purple for at least the next six hours or so!

Jennifer Lopez announced her long-rumored pregnancy at a concert in Miami last night, thus giving her label, Sony, incentive to keep her around despite the massive amounts of money she made it lay out on her stiff of an album, at least until the holidays are over. After all, the major labels have enough PR problems at the moment—kicking an expectant mother to the curb and perhaps forcing her to use (gasp!) drugstore beauty products right before Christmas isn't really the best way to scream "We care!", now, is it. I'd say that the $70 wooden flash drive version of Jennifer Lopez's Brave was a last-ditch effort on the part of Epic to make back all that money it spent on the sparkle-pony album cover, but if you look closely, you'll see that there are diamonds embedded inside the African mahogany encasing the USB stick. Never let it be said that La Lopez will eventually stop putting the "ass" in "classy"! [Luxist via The Boy Genius Report]

This Just In: Jennifer Lopez May Not Be Worth The Money She's Demanding From Sony

Her new album may be tanking faster than you can say "Songs About Girls," but that hasn't stopped Jennifer Lopez from demanding that her label, Sony BMG, shell out a lot of cash to cater to her whims. More »

Jennifer Lopez Gets Dirrty For The Kids

Leave it to Jennifer Lopez to take a song that sounds like a reject from the Amerie album (she's still smarting from passing on "1 Thing," no doubt) and pair it with a Dave LaChappelle-directed video that could conceivably be called "Dirrty II" (hey, Xtina didn't have two women who are "sexily" drinking at a puppy-store water bottle, nor did she have a guy who was playing "trapped mouse")—but wait, it's not exploitative at all! Why? Because the whole thing is structured around our trenchcoated heroine's search for a kid in distress; of course, he's only unearthed at the end of the clip, after J. Lo's kicked in every door hiding some twisted fantasy or other. So what awful gutter-plumbing fantasy was the kid trapped in? Why, dishwasher, of course.
