And just in time for the weekend comes the tune's sunny music video, which finds McElderry walking through the streets of Bulgaria, inspiring the locals to get up and dance. If you were looking for something to get you smiling on this fall Friday, Joe's vid could be it.

Watch Susan Boyle And Leona Lewis In The Helping Haiti “Everybody Hurts” Video
Mon Feb 8 2010 by Robbie Daw
The Helping Haiti video for "Everybody Hurts" is pretty much standard charity single fare—clips of the stars singing interspersed with (often graphic) footage of victims of the disastrous earthquake that rocked Haiti last month.
Simon Cowell organized the project, and wrangled in the likes of Susan Boyle, Mariah Carey, Miley Cyrus, Kylie Minogue, Take That, Bon Jovi, Leona Lewis, Robbie Williams, JLS, James Blunt, Joe McElderry and Alexandra Burke to sing on the R.E.M. cover. The song was made available on UK iTunes Sunday, and shot to #1 there by the afternoon.

Mon Dec 21 2009 by Robbie Daw
Every year since 2005 the current winner of The X Factor has nabbed the Christmas #1 single in the U.K. But that all came to a screeching halt last week when a Facebook campaign to get Rage Against The Machine's 1992 single "Killing In The Name" to trump 2009 X Factor champ Joe McElderry's "The Climb" proved victorious. Can Joe McElderry Keep Rage At Bay With His Video For ‘The Climb’?
Fri Dec 18 2009 by Robbie Daw
Despite The X Factor ending last weekend with a victory for Joe McElderry, the 18-year-old British crooner is still facing some stiff competition.
McElderry's by-the-numbers winnner's song, a cover of Miley Cyrus' "The Climb (see the video below in all its slapped-together-in-two-days glory)," should have been a shoe-in for this year's Christmas #1 single in the U.K. However, a massive anti-X Factor campaign to get Rage Against The Machine's "Killing In The Name" to the top kicked off started on Facebook earlier this month, and both singles are now in a neck-and-neck race. Joe McElderry Climbs To ‘X Factor’ Win
Mon Dec 14 2009 by Robbie Daw
If you’re an American who’s not yet up on Simon Cowell’s mega-successful British series The X Factor, you will be soon—it’s reportedly set to be launched here in the States sometime after American Idol’s ninth season.
Eighteen-year-old Joe McElderry was crowned the winner of X Factor’s sixth season last night. But unlike last year’s winner Alexandra Burke, we’re probably not going to see him in a half-jersey, slinking around in a football locker room anytime soon.
McElderry’s first single, a cover of Miley Cyrus’ “The Climb,” was made available digitally yesterday, and it’s already the top download at the U.K. iTunes store. More »
