Third time has proven to be a charm for country crooner Eric Church, who's third studio LP
Chief soars to #1 on the
Billboard Top 200 album chart on the strength of 145,000 copies sold in its first week. This marks the second time in the past month a record by a country artist has topped the main album chart, following the
#1 success of Blake Shelton's Red River Blue. Meanwhile, Amy Winehouse's 2007 LP
Back To Black continues its climb following
the singer's death two weeks ago.

Well, this is terrifying. British soul siren Joss Stone says she's "absolutely fine" and "getting on with life as normal" after two men were arrested outside her home in the rural town of Devon, England. They were caught with an array of weaponry, including swords, rope and a body bag, as well as aerial photography and inside plans of the
"Somehow" singer's house. Stone is due to start touring next month - she might want to get out of dodge a little sooner than that, considering. [Via

Joss Stone has been relatively quiet since the release of her 2009 album
Colour Me Free (you'll remember it best from its hideous
paint-by-numbers cover art). But the Brit singer, who finally managed to split with EMI, is readying her return with the release of her fifth studio album
LP1. (Does that title suggest that there may be an
LP2 or
LP3 in the future? Could be.) Earlier this week a new song by Stone surfaced online, the impassioned "Somehow", rumored to be the album's lead single. Hear it below.

No longer livin' the crazy life, Ricky Martin's new music video for "
The Best Thing About Me Is You" (off of his upcoming album
Music+Soul+Sex) is a big departure from his "She Bangs" days. The recently out pop star sports a Human Rights Campaign temporary tattoo for most of the simplistic video, which features shirtless models—but surprisingly not Joss Stone
who lent her vocals to the track. The song's message and tune sound remarkably like a Jason Mraz ditty (though it was co-written and produced by longtime Martin collaborator Desmond Child). So "don't say no, just say yes" and jump below to Ricky's flick.

Last night the longstanding
pain in the side of
American Idol Season 9—seemingly invulnerable "Teflon" Tim Urban—was voted off during the two-hour
Idol Gives Back charity special. But more importantly, artists such as The Black Eyed Peas, Annie Lennox (wearing a much-discussed T-shirt bearing the slogan "HIV Positive"), Alicia Keys, Mary J. Blige, Elton John and Joss Stone hit the stage to help raise money during the Queen Latifah-hosted episode.
Watch all of the performances, plus a firsthand account report from Ethiopia by
Idol's Season 7 winner David Cook, after the jump.

“Joss Stone: Did her label make her change her provocative album-cover art?” Entertainment Weekly breathlessly asks about the two images above, one of which was Joss’ “artistic choice” to be the cover for her new album, the other the one that EMI actually sent to stores. Whether or not the former EMI darling’s curdling of her relationship with her label (yes, she wants to be “free” of her paymasters’ clutches, just like Prince) resulted in the left cover being swapped out for the right, I think we all know who loses: The designers of fonts that aren’t Comic Sans-like in their ugliness, and every single one of our eyes. (I’d even go so far as to say that any corrective lenses employed to make said peepers work get an “L” in their column as well.) [EW] More »
