Lance Bass Discusses Media Reaction To Transgender Slurs

Fri Dec 23 2011 by Idolator Staff
Hey, media — pop stars aren't too happy with you today. Last night, Adam Lambert tweeted that the "media always exaggerates" regarding his arrest in Finland, and today Lance Bass is taking them to task for not reaching out to him before publishing reports that he offended the LGBT community (of which he himself is part) by using the word "trannies" on Access Hollywood. In a lengthy written piece for the Huffington Post, the "Pop" star apologizes and explains that he uses the word to refer to "overly made-up men in garish costumes and dramatic makeup" (which he should know something about). Mon Nov 21 2011 by Erika Brooks Adickman
We may be counting down the moments till we can hop on the Turkey Train to Gravytown this Thursday, but that doesn't mean we've lost sight of our season-of-giving video project, At Your Request. Hordes of artists took to Twitter to celebrate the talented but troubled performer, who, as Lance Bass, Big Boi, and others pointed out in their tweets, died at the same fatal age as Kurt Cobain, Janis Joplin, Jimi Hendrix, and Jim Morrison. Head below to hear the sorrowful words of Amy's contemporaries.

Boy Bands Are Making A Comeback On Lance Bass’ New VH1 Reality Show

Sun Jun 19 2011 by Idolator Staff
Move over, ladies and solo gents — the boys are back in town. Or so former 'N Sync member Lance Bass is hoping, since he's putting together a new reality show in which newly-created boy bands vie for a shot at, um, relevance in a world that has long since moved past the 90's and early 00's obsession with four or five dreamy dudes crooning their hearts out sans instruments. (At least he's not trying to act again.) So, in addition to the occasionally glam Bass, which of your favorite Tiger Beat poster pull-outs of yesteryear will be making an appearance on the VH1 Voice-esque competition? Find out below. The Morning Mix: Lance Bass Goes Glambert

Wed Jun 2 2010 by Becky Bain
Did You Hear?

:: No, this isn't Adam Lambert on an (incredibly) off day—it's Lance Bass, who apparently decided to go glam for a recent photo shoot. Dude, this look is not working for you. Go back to the frosted tips, stat. [ONTD]

:: Adele discusses recording her new album with Red Hot Chili Peppers producer Rick Rubin, saying that the new record will have a "bluesy, gospel sound." Color us excited! [Spin]

:: Could Rihanna try to make her references just a little less obvious? First her "Rude Boy" video appeared to draw heavily from various other works of art, and now — surprise — her "Rockstar 101" video concept looks awfully familiar. [Blackbook]

:: Glee's resident meanie (on the show, at least) Jane Lynch was married to her partner Lara Embry over the weekend. Congrats to the happy couple! [Just Jared]

:: MTV has anointed Lady Gaga's "Alejandro" as the Summer Jam of 2010. We think the jury's still out on this one. Let's at least get through June and see what's been blasting on our speakers this summer, kay? [MTV] More »

Top 5 Pop Stars Who Should Never Act Again

Thu Nov 12 2009 by Becky Bain

Mariah Carey managed to validate her acting career by dressing down and taking a humble, supporting part in depress-o-rama indie flick Precious, which opened this past weekend. We can’t believe the reigning champion of Pop Stars Pretending to Be Actresses has done on-screen work people can actually enjoy non-ironically. Brava, Mariah. Our little hoochy-dressed girl’s all grown up.

Mariah’s earned our respect, but there are tons of other pop acts who, to paraphrase Mean Girls, keep trying to make this “acting” thing happen. It’s not going to happen!

After the jump, our Top 5 picks for pop stars who seriously need to leave acting to the professionals: More »
