Leak Of The Week: Hey, It’s That Gray-Haired Guy From TV

Someone in your family is going to either give or receive the debut full-length from recently minted American Idol Taylor Hicks this holiday season, so we figured we’d let you know that it’s started floating around the Internet a good six days before its release next Tuesday. MORE »

Damn it:

I never thought another artist would make me long for the soulful stylings of Marc Cohn, let alone lament him getting shot in the face at a time when pale imitations of him are much more deserving targets, unjustly clogging up the charts.

Leak Of The Week: Gwen Stefani’s “Sweet Escape” Has Officially Escaped

If you know where to look, you’ll be able to find Gwen Stefani’s yodel-addled new album The Great Escape, which has gone and done leaked itself onto the information superhighway. MORE »

Fergielicious? Amazing to me that Fergie's worthy of any adjective, dumbfounding that it would end in "-licious." In any case, this song is working its Peaches-licious pedigree like a fatherfucker, no? And Pharrel, well, he's sounding comfortably Pharrel-licious--numbingly so? Anyone else feel like this could be the final season of wickedly stripped-down beats, beat-boxy hooks and buzzing?

Gwen tho? Sure, she's fluff and is getting a little out-there with the "look at this new style I bought up and then WAY overdid!" thing but it's hard to be TOO mad at old ska kids--after all, she stuck with her two-tone tomboy look way past when she could've skipped out and--well, copped free couture and started prancing all over fashion mags like she does now.

Well, actually, maybe it's not so hard to get mad at old ska kids: http://www.filmforum.org/archivedfilms/quad/quadsting.jpg<...

Leak Of The Week: My Chemical Romance, ‘The Black Parade’

Despite Warner’s best efforts–strict quotas on who could hear it before its Oct. 24 release date, fake names and industrial-strength copy protection on the few CDs that did get shipped out –My Chemical Romance’s new album, The Black Parade, made its way to Idolator’s hard drive earlier this… MORE »

That guitar solo is pure Mick Ronson.

Surprisingly good stuff, though.

Leak Of The <s>Week</s> Day: My Chemical Romance’s ‘Mama’ Issues

We’ve been scouring the Web for leaks from The Black Parade, the My Chemical Romance album that comes out on Tuesday, and we’ve finally–finally!–found a crack in Warner Brothers’ watermarked wall. MORE »

My Chemical Romance is a-****ing-mazing.

Leak Of The Week: Diddy, ‘Press Play’

It almost feels wrong to call Press Play, the forthcoming album from Diddy, a solo effort. The Whopper-loving impresario is joined by a chartload of guests on the record, which arrives in stores on Tuesday; Christina Aguilera, Mary J. MORE »

A lot of the tracks that have leaked so far from "Press Play" sound pretty amazing given Puff's limited artistic ability.

This track is immaculately produced and performed (again given his limited abilities as an MC) and I give him props for trying to do something different here but it sounds a little bit dated. I'm getting flashbacks to the Roni Size, LTJ Bukem, Olive era of coffee table drum n bass and trip hop.

BTW more Diddy leaks can be found here.

Jay-Z Wants You To Show Us What You Got

Last Friday, some well-connected little birdie dropped an advance MP3 of Jay-Z’s “Show Me What You Got” into our tips@idolator.com mailbox. MORE »

Hey, I now understand the purpose of Idolator. You may not have the best music or the best writing, but hot-damn, you've got the best lawyers.

It's refreshing to see a day-after post that reads "Dear Jigga Man, Fuck you and the horse you rode in on," instead of "Dear Mr. Carter & Legal staff, Please accept our heartfelt apology for posting your intellectual property."

Leak Of The <s>Week</s> <s>Day</s> Year: Jay-Z, ‘Show Me What You Got’

Jay-Z’s unretirement album, Kingdom Come, drops on Nov. 21; the lead-off track, “Show Me What You Got,” starts off with him almost apologizing for coming back before kicking right into a classic Hova boast, one where he seems to be shedding–and mocking–his former player… MORE »

Hov's new single is fiya! I know people will hate, but the drums are bananas. With so much of the same old same old out there it was relief for my ears.

Leak Of The Week: Lloyd Banks, ‘Rotten Apple’

The sophomore effort from G-Unit member Lloyd Banks was pushed back a few times; Banks himself took credit for the delays, saying that he wanted to “aim for the stars” with its release. MORE »

South Jamaica? No wonder he's so tough. They'll beat the s*** out of anyone who looks like Craig David over there. Given Lloyd's baby-soft & very "Fill Me In" features, he must have gotten his head handed to him many times. It's clear that his only solution was to "gangsta-up" and roll with a serious group of tough guys - the G-UNIT!!!

Cool album cover though. Too bad it's like putting perfume on a pig.

Idolator Travel Tip: Avoid ‘Sam’s Town’

Somewhere between the monster success of “Mr. Brightside” and the preparation of their second album, Sam’s Town, the Vegas rock act The Killers decided to get Serious. MORE »

"oh, and by the way- IMO, i think its a good thing when a band tries different things on new albums"

The Beastie Boys - Paul's Boutique rings a clear bell with me. I remember when NO ONE liked that album and the critics slammed it. I loved the Beastie Boys with their first album and while I was disappointed at first with their 2nd album not sounding like their first one with the Rick Ruben production, Paul's Boutique is one of my favorite, if not THE most favorite album they have IMHO.

Give all albums time fells/gals and let time be the judge...
