The singer stars in Monte Carlo, which is basically the story of The Prince And The Pauper meets, well, our blog, since the film also stars pop-related actor/singers Leighton Meester and Glee's Cory Monteith. In the flick, Beiber's beau plays a non-famous gal on a vacay with her gal pals in Paris, where she runs into her uber-famous doppelganger. We've heard Leighton Meester do her country twang thang on the Country Strong duet, "Give Into Me". Now comes "Summer Girl", a flirty upbeat tune from the singer-actress (and new face of fashion line Missoni). The song was originally recorded by country singer Jessica Andrews back in 2005. Around this time last year, Leighton Meester, Pop Star, seemed like a sure thing — she was headlining New Years Eve gigs, collaborating with Lil Wayne, and her debut single, "Somebody To Love", was getting some massive airplay (and even nabbed a slot on the Valentine's Day soundtrack). Meester's buzz as a singer has surprisingly quieted down the past few months, but we'll see if interest in the Gossip Girl star rises once again when people hear her deliver some tunes in Country Strong (aka the reason why Gwyneth Paltrow is everywhere nowadays). Leighton recorded the downbeat breakup lament "Words I Couldn't Say" for upcoming Gwyneth Paltrow vehicle Country Strong.
