AC/DC's Brian Johnson Drops A Pot Trilogy

AC/DC's Brian Johnson has put out three new songs to promote the DVD release of Totally Baked, a pot comedy starring a cavalcade of VH-1 level stand-ups. Most entertaining of the eerily AC/DC-esque trio is "Who Phoned The Law," which appears to be about a zoo's worth of stoned animals having a wild party. Chorus: "The dog's got the munchies, the cat ate the stash. The chicken and the tuna's lying, laughing on their ass. The monkey's in the kitchen, and the donkey's in the hall. Hey! Hey! Who phoned the law?" I might have that "chicken and the tuna" line wrong, but it's not like Brian's voice is getting clearer with age. More »

Yoko Doesn't Want Us To See John Lennon Get High

Yoko Ono and the film company World Wide Media are in a legal battle over who owns the rights to some undoubtedly priceless footage of John Lennon filmed in 1970. The nine hours of material are claimed to include Lennon smoking a joint, working on songs and describing his plans to put LSD in Richard Nixon's coffee. It was filmed by Anthony Cox, Ono's husband before Lennon, for a planned documentary. World Wide wants to use the footage for a film titled "Three Days In The Life." Despite the fact that World Wide bought the footage directly from Cox, Ono feels she owns the copyright because she'd previously bought the footage from "a Florida man." If you play that backwards, I'm pretty sure you hear the word "bullshit." More »

Turbonegro's Happy-Tom Witnesses The Arrival Of An Abandoned "Pot Boat"

When California's KUSI interviewed a "surfer" in Sunset Cliffs about a boat containing marijuana that had washed up on the store, they clearly didn't realize that Tom Seltzer was better known as Happy-Tom, bassist for the legendary Norwegian band Turbonegro. If you don't know Turbonegro, I recommend checking out the following songs: "Rock Against Ass," "Are You Ready (For Some Darkness)," "The Midnight NAMBLA," "Everybody Loves A Chubby Dude," and "Do You Dig Destruction?" For fans who don't want to watch the entire broadcast, we've got Happy-Tom's quotes after the jump. More »

Uptight Australians React Uptightly

While being interviewed on Australian radio two days ago, Silverchair frontman Daniel Johns finished off an otherwise true story with an off-the-cuff and obvious falsehood: "It was me and Natalie and Peter Garrett and Bono laying on Bono's bed smoking joints, listening to Young Modern demos." Well, obvious to most people anyway... More »
