Miike Snow And Lykke Li Team Up For New Song “Black Tin Box”

Tue Jan 24 2012 by Becky Bain
Though Bloodyshy & Avant, two thirds of the indie-pop outfit Miike Snow, typically create gleaming, radio-friendly tunes for the likes of Britney Spears, they're saving their darker melodies for their own. Their new single "Black Tin Box" starts off reserved and cold, but as it progresses, everything gets a bit warmer with the addition of some bubbly synths — as well as the group's fellow Swede Lykke Li, who shows up after the two minute mark. Preview Miike Snow’s ‘Happy To You’ Track, “Devil’s Work”

Wed Dec 21 2011 by Erika Brooks Adickman
Miike Snow, the Swedish electropop group made up of Andrew Wyatt, Christian Karlsson and Pontus Winnberg (a.k.a the producing duo Bloodshy & Avant of Britney Spears' "How I Roll" and "Toxic"), has a new album, Happy To You, underway for 2012. The disc's March 27 release date comes as joyous news to fans of the trio's 2009 self-titled LP — and that includes us. And we were equally pleased to check out the short-film preview of the band's new track "Devil's Work". Watch it below. More »

Britney Spears’ “Toxic” Producers Karlsson & Winnberg Offer Up “The Dance”

Wed Sep 28 2011 by Robbie Daw
When Christian Karlsson and Pontus Winnberg aren't producing pop masterpieces for Britney Spears ("Toxic," "Radar," "How I Roll") under the monicker Bloodshy & Avant, they can be found masquerading as two-thirds of Miike Snow. The Swedish musicians also dabble in the odd insanely offbeat side project, such as their pair-up with MC Spank Rock, "The Dance." We can't quite tell if it sounds like the guys are in a creepy jungle on the track or completely off in the far reaches of outer space. Listen below and decide for yourself. More »

Mark Ronson’s “Somebody To Love Me” Video Is Mad About The Boy George

Thu Oct 14 2010 by Robbie Daw
Earlier this year we mentioned that Mark Ronson had been working with Jake Shears and Cathy Dennis, and now we get to hear the fruits of their labor. The track they all co-wrote, "Somebody To Love Me," is the latest single issued off Ronson's Record Collection LP, and the song not only features Boy George and Miike Snow's Andrew Wyatt on vocals, the video also depicts a young Boy circa June 1982 (i.e. the Culture Club years), looking his glammed-out best! Coachella Guest Post: Whitney Port Explains How Celebs Do The Desert

Wed Apr 14 2010 by Idolator Staff
It's almost upon us: our annual trek to the California desert, where we feast on the musical banquet that is the Coachella Valley Music & Arts Festival, headlined this year by Jay-Z, Gorillaz and Muse. You already know who we're willing to suffer the sweltering heat for. But, as you might suspect, Coachella also enjoys the regular attendance of Hollywood stars, who take the short drive (or, ahem, shorter helicopter flight) from L.A.. We've been wondering just what the weekend is like for the stars — so we asked Whitney Port, star of MTV's The City and now an up-and-coming fashion designer, to walk us through just how she handles Coachella weekend, and what wisdom she has to impart to everyone crossing the desert (VIP-style or not). Heed her advice on mimosa intake, and see her full survival guide below: More »

Out With The Horns, In With Scissor Sisters And Cathy Dennis For Mark Ronson

Wed Feb 3 2010 by Robbie Daw
Grammy Award winner Mark Ronson, who produced Amy Winehouse's "Rehab," has been rounding up artists to appear on his next album. Just don't expect it to have the same retro feel of his previous LP, Version. "There's no covers, and no horns," he tells NME. "It's written with some of the people that actually wrote the songs I covered on the last album and that I didn't actually even know at the time."

Ronson let on that Scissor Sisters, Santigold, Miike Snow, Pill and Cathy Dennis are all on tap to appear on the new album, due out this spring or summer. Wait—Cathy Dennis? As in '90s pop star/American Idol theme song and "Toxic" writer Cathy Dennis? This project just got ten times more interesting! More »
