Mike Posner And Black Bear Cover Rick Ross And Drake’s “Stay Schemin”

Mon Jan 16 2012 by Idolator Staff
Thinking of giving up scheming? Well, Mike Posner has some advice for you — don't. The "Looks Like Sex" singer is back with an acoustic cover of Rick Ross' "Stay Schemin," which originally featured Drake. Naturally, the new version is a lot softer-edged than Ricky Rozay and Drizzy's Rich Forever cut, thanks to a choice word being replaced with "haters" (hint: it starts with "N") and plenty of ear-pleasing crooning by both Posner and Black Bear. It's the most sensitive, soulful delivery of "F*ck it, I don't wanna go to court" you're likely to hear in this lifetime. Listen below. More »

Tue Jan 10 2012 by Becky Bain
Mike Posner has released the visuals for "Looks Like Sex", the new single from his forthcoming album Sky High (due Spring 2012), and true to the song, all the models in the clip do indeed resemble "sex", in that they're brash, bangin', and barely clothed. And what does Mr. Posner look like, pacing around a questionably designed set? He looks like a guy who knows how to get people to watch his new video. Clip below. More »

Tue Nov 29 2011 by Becky Bain
Air travel aficionado Mike Posner is prepping the release of his 31 Minutes To Takeoff follow-up, titled Sky High, and he's promising a similar amount of swag as his debut. While his recently dropped mixtape The Layover looked a whole lot like a tribute to Posner's favorite pop/rock acts, his forthcoming LP's new single, well, "Looks Like Sex". (It sounds a bit like sex, too, if your style of lovemaking involves atmospheric synths.) Listen to his laid-back new tune below. More »

Wiz Khalifa And Snoop Dogg Reveal ‘Mac + Devin Go To High School’ Track Listing

Mon Nov 21 2011 by Becky Bain
Snoop Dogg and Wiz Khalifa, though many years above the age of the typical student, are headed back to class in their upcoming stoner flick Mac + Devin Go To High School though we think their studies will include more "high" than "school". In the film's corresponding 12-song soundtrack, Bruno Mars lays his vocals on lead single "Young, Wild & Free", while Mike Posner is featured on a mysterious track called "French Inhale". And honestly, we can't wait to learn the words to "You Can Put It In A Zag, I'mma Put It In A Blunt". Track list below. More »

Mike Posner Unleashes Covers Of “Wonderwall” And “Rocket Man”

Wed Nov 16 2011 by Becky Bain
As Mike Posner readies his follow-up to his debut LP 31 Minutes To Takeoff, the electro-pop crooner is unleashing The Layover (clever, Mike), a mixtape we're assuming is only compiled of mellow, synth-aided covers of pop songs from the past, at least if these two recordings are any indication: jump below to listen to Posner's atmospheric electronic tweaks to Oasis' "Wonderwall" and Elton John's "Rocket Man". Now with rap interludes! More »

Cher Lloyd And Mike Posner Pop Into Their “With Ur Love” Video

Sun Oct 2 2011 by Idolator Staff
Is it just us, or does Cher Lloyd have a certain... X-factor? Okay, obviously it's not just us, since she was a finalist on the UK X-Factor. But we had iffy feelings about the kinda catchy, kinda obnoxious, very-bizarrely-Mick-Jagger-referencing "Swagger Jagger." (No, we still have no idea why having looks, swagger, or moves like the Rolling Stones frontman is suddenly such a boon.) However, we are happy to report that Cher Lloyd has improved musically and visually with the fun candy-colored, balloon-stuffed video for "With Ur Love," featuring Mike Posner. So even if "Swagger Jagger" left you identifying more with Keith Richards, try giving Cher another shot below. More »

Mike Posner Takes On Coldplay’s “The Scientist”

Mon May 23 2011 by Becky Bain

One would not naturally put Coldplay and dubstep in the same sentence let alone the same song, but Mike Posner brings both of those things together in his cover of the British band's melancholy song "The Scientist". You listened to him spin around Adele's "Rolling In The Deep", now listen to the "Cooler Than Me" dude turn Chris Martin's sad song into a brilliant piece of electronica by hopping below. More »

Thu May 19 2011 by Erika Brooks Adickman

Jessie J seemed surprised at the massive turn out for KISS FM’s Fantabuloso Dos concert last night, tweeting: “Amazing show in Chicago. I was told it was an intimate gig to 500 peeps. 12,000 maybe?? And first on! Oh i love a challenge. Haha.” Naturally, Chi-Town’s All State Arena was packed — fans were clamoring to see the amazing pop star round up which included MTV Movie Awards performer Lupe Fiasco, David Guetta, Pitbull, T-Pain, Mike Posner, Tinie Tempah and our pals Far East Movement who rocked the crowd with “Girls On The Dance Floor”. Check out the highlights from the Windy City show. More »

Mike Posner Throws His Bow Chicka Wow Wow On Ellen, Gives Her A Pink Teddy Bear

Tue Apr 19 2011 by Robbie Daw
Ellen DeGeneres made Mike Posner's sexed-up current single "Bow Chicka Wow Wow" the Song Of The Day on her official site, and it's no wonder—today the college-kid-turned-pop-star hit up The Ellen DeGeneres Show and, while performing, handed her a pink teddy. (No, not that kind of pink teddy, you naughty rascals—a stuffed bear!) It was an awww-inducing moment for Ellen that even made us want to, like, give Mike a big pinch on the cheek. Or something. Watch the lovefest below. More »

Mike Posner Thinks He’s Deeper Than You Covering Adele’s “Rolling In The Deep”

Sat Feb 26 2011 by Idolator Staff
Does Mike Posner think he’s cooler than Adele? Well, probably not (who could?) — but that didn’t stop him from covering/remixing her gorgeous single “Rolling In The Deep.” The Afro-wigged ladies’ man keeps a few of the 21 track’s original vocals in a nice homage to the Never Been Kissed fan, and otherwise updates it to a very cool electronic piece in the same vein as “Cooler Than Me” that still somehow manages to retain the heartbroken feel of Adele’s original tune. Don’t believe this match could possibly work? Hear the full track for yourself down below. More »
