Kanye West Fires Up “Don’t Look Down (The Phoenix Story)” For G.O.O.D. Friday

Sat Oct 23 2010 by Idolator Staff
As is apt for the weekend he's officially rolling out a 35-minute mini-movie about his relationship with a mythological bird, Kanye West dropped "Don't Look Down (The Phoenix Story)" as the latest installment in his weekly digital singles series. The dramatic six-minute track churns ahead as Kanye and G.O.O.D. Friday cohorts Mos Def and Lupe Fiasco are joined by Big Sean in a string of clever verses about the creature portrayed by Selita Ebanks. If you listen close, you can almost imagine Kanye "chilling on the couch" with her. Hear it (and grab the free download) below. More »

Oh “Lord Lord Lord”: Kanye West Releases Another “G.O.O.D. Friday” Song

Sat Sep 18 2010 by Idolator Staff
Kanye West's "G.O.O.D. Fridays" digital singles series picks up this week with "Lord Lord Lord", a spacy soul jam in the style of "Devil In A New Dress" with flavor provided by legendary lyricist (and Kanye push-up contest rival) Mos Def. Kanye and his rotating "G.O.O.D. Friday" cast — including superproducer Swizz Beatz, former Gap Band singer Charlie Wilson — wrapped this one up early this morning (just a little late, as Swizz admitted), and it's a fine addition to the series. Mos Def’s New Album Available In “Dry Clean Only” Format

Tue Jun 16 2009 by Maura

When I was a kid, I thought that children’s books labeled “educationally sound” were actually supposed to make noise. So you may be more savvy than I when you read about The Music Tee, which the press release claims is “an innovative new T-shirt that literally weds music and fashion by embedding digital music in the shirt.” Embedding in the shirt? Does that mean that someone would be able to command Mos Def’s The Ecstatic–which is being released in the format on July 7–to play merely by feeling me up while I’m wearing one of these enhanced tops? Hot damn! More »
