Katy Perry Flexes Her Comedy Muscle In Two ‘How I Met Your Mother’ Preview Clips

Wed Feb 2 2011 by Becky Bain
Would Katy Perry's guest-starring turn on How I Met Your Mother convince the public she's more than just a pop song-singing whip cream canon, but also a comedic actress? Or would TV viewers demand that Russell Brand give his wife some lessons in the art of telling a joke? Well, now we know — two preview clips have been released of the Grammy nominee's performance on the show, and it's just what we expected: boobs, doe eyes, and Perry's super positive energy. But can she act? Take the jump to judge for yourself. More »

Glee's reign over the Emmy Awards has already begun—Neil Patrick Harris picked up a golden statue at the Creative Arts Emmys for his hilarious guest-starring performance as Mr. Shue's high school nemesis Bryan Ryan in the episode "Dream On." (The show also won Best Sound Editing for "The Power Of Madonna".) Randy Newman picked up a trophy for writing the music and lyrics to "When I'm Gone" from Monk, and So You Think You Can Dance?'s Mia Michaels won for choreographing the gorgeous number set to Sara Bareilles' "Gravity." The Morning Mix: Enrique Iglesias Waterskis In The Buff

Fri Aug 6 2010 by Becky Bain
Did You Hear?

:: Enrique Iglesias is a man of his word—check out the (grainy, shaky, handheld, alleged) footage of the Spanish superstar waterskiing naked to fulfill his World Cup bet. Cue Enrique's song of the summer "I Like It", because that's how we're feeling right about now. [TMZ]

:: Neil Patrick Harris (whose production of Rent, starring Vanessa Hudgens and Nicole Scherzinger, opens this weekend) would love to be back on Glee. Unfortunately, it's complicated, even with an Emmy nom for his guest-starring role as Mr. Shue's old high-school rival. [E! Online]

:: Lady Gaga looked normal when she wasn't one of the most famous women in the world. Check out the pop star back in her college (and brunette) days. [Buzzworthy]

:: Were the nuances of the Burlesque trailer just too subtle for you? Then you'll enjoy this frame-by-frame look at this decade's Showgirls. [Jezebel]

:: Newlyweds Alicia Keys and Swizz Beatz are spending part of their honeymoon in Saint-Jean-Cap-Ferrat, France, on a ship called Obsession. Everyone knows you still owe taxes if you're on water, right? [Just Jared]

You Be The Judge—Which Song Should Win An Emmy?

Thu Jul 8 2010 by Becky Bain
The Emmy nominees were announced this morning, and although Glee scored more nominations than any other show (raise your jazz hands for 19 noms!), they were completely left out of the Best Music/Lyrics category. Maybe they'll fair better next year if Ryan Tedder follows through and composes an original track for the show?

Even without Lea Michele's Broadway-fashioned belt in this crop of songs, there's some interesting choices among this year's nominees—Family Guy gets predictably offensive, Neil Patrick Harris waxes poetic about his three-piece suit, and Rihanna gets awkward around a super shy Andy Samberg. Check out the six nominees for Best Music/Lyrics below! More »

Wed May 19 2010 by Becky Bain
On last night's "Dream On" episode of Glee, we got the non-surprise of Idina Menzel's Shelby turning out to be Rachel's mom, Neil Patrick Harris doing magic and some insane vocal acrobatics, and Kevin McHale finally getting to be the star of his own dance (and have two solos featured in one show!). Our favorite clips after the jump. More »

‘American Idol’: Dallas Auditions

Thu Jan 28 2010 by Robbie Daw
Last night on American Idol, the judges rolled up to Cowboys Stadium in Dallas. They say that everything's bigger in Texas—and clearly that includes the magnitude of Ryan Seacrest's cheeseball dialog. ("It's the second biggest state in the U.S., but its pride is second to none!"). Urgh. All in all, 31 hopeful contestants were ushered off to Hollywood with the help of guest judges Neil Patrick Harris and Joe Jonas. But only one was carrying a whip! More »
