After embarking on quite a few individual projects the last few years — Nick released a solo album and went to Broadway, Joe dropped his own solo LP, and Kevin… hung out? — the Jonas Brothers are ready to make music again. Kev uploaded a video of his younger bros experimenting with some new sounds in a home studio as they work on the follow-up to their 2009 album Lines, Vines and Trying Times. Nick Jonas hit the greens in the Sunshine State yesterday in support of the Jason Taylor Foundation, which benefits “the personal growth and improvement of South Florida’s children.” Nick tweeted excitedly, “Had such a great time today playing golf for a good cause! Now hopping on a flight back to NY for the WWHL show tonight! Then I’m on SMASH!” For the charity event, Smash‘s Lyle West donned a smart black polo, a white Nike hat and green khakis. (Personally, we were hoping for a crazy plaid-pant-and-sweater-vest combo.) Nick Jonas has clearly become a welcome part of the Broadway community, as the How To Succeed actor has scored a guest appearance on next week’s episode of Smash. Jonas will play Lyle West, a TV star who got his start as a child actor on Broadway. (Hmm, sound familiar?) Wait, is 19-year-old Nick Jonas actually playing a 12-year-old? Was that sarcasm? We don’t even buy him as a 15-year-old. Let’s hope the full episode clears this one up.

Nick Jonas is no stranger to the Broadway stage. After appearing in the classic musicals Les Miserables, Annie Get Your Gun, and Beauty And The Beast — not to mention London’s Les Miz and the Hollywood Bowl production of Hairspray — we’re sure he won’t have (a lot of) pre-show jitters tonight as he begins his run as the lead role in How To Succeed In Business Without Really Trying. If you are a young, handsome actor-singer-dancer, chances are you will at some point star in the current Broadway production of How To Succeed In Business Without Really Trying. Nick Jonas — whose musical theatre credits include Beauty And The Beast on Broadway, Les Miserables in London and Hairspray at the Hollywood Bowl — will appear in the show starting January 24, 2012, replacing Glee‘s Darren Criss in the role of J. In the video for this feel-good single (penned by Nick Jonas), the Filipino pop star attends what may be the most well-behaved, positive-minded school we’ve ever seen. It Gets Better? In the clip, instead of making fun of a teenage boy for drawing a sketch of another boy, his classmates compliment him on his artwork. In another room, two students stay focused and learn not to give up on their dance routine. Charice – “One Day”

Apparently there’s a Microsoft Store in Los Angeles now, and Nick Jonas performed outside of it over the weekend. During his set, the theatrical pop singer covered Lady Gaga’s “The Edge Of Glory” and Bruno Mars’ “Just The Way You Are” on acoustic guitar, and did a more convincing job than Microsoft is at trying to mimic Apple’s tech-loving and loiter-friendly watering holes. Nick Jonas’ jaunt to The View this morning wasn’t as dramatic as his recent theatrical performances — Joy couldn’t even get him to answer the inevitable “are you dating anybody” question — but there was a bit of a revelation when when Nick, whose nickname is “Mr. President”, said he “would like to” go into politics one day. Lest you Jonas Brothers fans think the band is no more, Nick assures us that he and his brothers will reunite as a trio soon enough. “We’re just taking some time to do individual projects and enjoy that journey that each of us are on,” he said. “It’s exciting, we’re all doing different things and kind of taking those experiences and we’ll come back and do something soon.”

After getting tres dramatique in Les Miserables, theatre-lover Nick Jonas is heading back to the stage. The youngest JoBro will star in a three-date engagement of the Tony-winning musical Hairspray, playing at the Hollywood Bowl this August. Nick will be playing heartthrob Link Larkin, the role originated on Broadway by Glee‘s Matthew Morrison, and also played by Zac Efron in the big-screen adaption. In a bit of six degrees of separation, both Zac and Matthew have buddies in the show — Efron’s High School Musical co-star Corbin Bleu will play Seaweeed (man, they sure do like their HSM alumni there at the Bowl), and Glee‘s hottie dentist John Stamos will play dance show host Corny Collins in the Bowl production.

American Idol‘s Season 3 runner-up Diana DeGarmo and Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame inductee Darlene Love will play Penny and Motormouth Maybelle, and original Hairspray castmembers (and Tony winners) Harvey Fierstein and Marissa Jaret Winokur will once again reprise their roles as mother-daughter pair Edna Turnblad and Tracy Turnblad.

Hairspray will run at LA’s legendary Hollywood Bowl on August 5, 6 & 7. We’ll more than likely be there that Friday, Friday.

Nick Jonas made his West End debut in Les Misérables at the Queens Theatre in London last night, but it wasn’t his first experience with the beloved  musical—Nick played the pint-sized soldier Gavroche on Broadway in 2003 when he was 11. Now all growns up, Nick fills the role of the lead romantic interest Marius, and with his mature, deep vocals (which you can listen to over at Oh No They Didn’t), the youngest JoBro thrilled theatergoers, including his supporting big bros Kevin and Joe.
