Billboard reports today that Dolly Parton is planning a new album, her first "mainstream country" title in nearly two decades, for February release. It will be on Parton's own label, Dolly Records, and available on iTunes, though a physical distributor has yet to be determined. Given that Dolly's manager cites being unimpressed with the majors' distribution deals, you've got to wonder if she'll be dealing with a label at all—Parton would be a perfect feather in Starbucks' cap—and wonder also if "mainstream country" radio will have any interest whatsoever. Not that Dolly needs it, of course—but the use of the term seems like a play for it, anyway.
