This seems to be a similar theme in “Good Man”, the latest track off his upcoming Radio (due out March 22nd). In the moody single, the crooner is shocked and heartbroken that his woman has up and left him—as the female backup vocals rattle off a laundry list of reasons why Saadiq is the definition of the song’s title . Jump below for a listen and judge for yourself if the “We Are The World 25 For Haiti” contributor is a worthy suitor.

He puts food on the table, doesn’t have kids and “never did time/well, maybe just once”. Such a catch!

Last year’s The Way I See It, was a delight, capturing the vibe and playfulness of ’60s Motown, early Philly International, and the Impressions, among many other signposts. These four songs, impeccably recorded and performed (complete with some snazzy barroom piano), only increase my frustration that Saadiq’s recent work hasn’t resulted in Grammy-winning superstardom.
