Bow Wow Decides To Collar Himself

Bow Wow—the hip-hop star who grew up in front of America’s eyes over the past 16 years—has announced his retirement from the music business, telling RealTalkNY that “there’s no more that needs to be done on the music side, I’ve done everything.” And by “everything,” he means “released a record with a Parental Advisory sticker attached,” since that was the case with his latest album New Jack City II, which came out at the end of last month and debuted on the albums chart at No. 16, selling just shy of 31,000 copies in its first week on shelves. Bow Wow is claiming that he wants to focus on acting—he’s been on the bro-down Entourage and is currently working on a movie with Lil Wayne and Forest Whitaker—but I wouldn’t be surprised if we saw a “comeback” record from dude within the next five years. After the jump, relive Bow Wow (when a Lil was attached to his name) appearing on The Arsenio Hall Show in 1993. MORE »

But given that frontman Tom Araya told the UK metal site Thrash Hits that “seeing a 50-year-old man headbanging on stage would make [him] cringe” and he’s about three years away from that milestone, the day when Slayer hangs up their pentagrams might not be all that far off. Can you imagine a world without Slayer? You may have to. We all may have to. MORE »

Satan should really take care of their 401Ks for them.

George Michael Hangs Up His Microphone

right-image.jpgNow I’m really bummed that I didn’t buy tickets to the MSG show, even if they were overpriced: George Michael has announced that his current tour will be the last of his career, presumably to devote more of his time to scuttling the Wham! biopic that his former manager has been plotting. The last arena shows of his career will take place in London in August, and they’ll be dubbed “The Final Two”–a sequel of sorts to Wham’s last gig, which you may recall was called “The Final.” (And yes, I have the Wham! greatest-hits album of the same name.) In honor of his impending retirement, let’s go back in time via YouTube… MORE »
