Though NBC's new music-based show Smash centers around the world of Broadway and has songs penned by actual Broadway composers, don't expect just to hear the characters only sing showtunes. In this new promo, Katharine McPhee (who recently sat down with us for a Career Quiz) sings a club-ready tune called "Touch Me", written and produced by Top 40 regular Ryan Tedder. Gym Class Heroes Team Up With Ryan Tedder For “The Fighter”

Though Gym Class Heroes have canceled the remaining dates on their Fall tour due to frontman Travie McCoy's "illness" (why so vague, guys?), McCoy was still able to perform the group's single "Stereo Hearts" on Saturday Night Live with Maroon 5. Looks like Travie's claim that he's one tough cookie in new song "The Fighter" is pretty accurate. The uplifting tune, off The Papercut Chronicles II, features OneRepublic's Ryan Tedder on the hook as well as the production. Demi Lovato, OneRepublic & B.o.B Perform At Do Something Awards

The 2011 Do Something Awards were held at the Hollywood Palladium on Sunday, while the event was broadcast on VH1 last night. The Jane Lynch-hosted shindig celebrated young people who dedicate themselves to worthy causes, and the evening saw a black-clad Justin Bieber pick up honors for Do Something Music Artist. Other winners in the music field: Glee (Do Something TV Show), Joe Jonas and Demi Lovato's "Make A Wave" (Do Something Charity Song) and Taylor Swift (Do Something Concert). Late night party pop delinquents Cobra Starship are celebrating like there's no tomorrow in their new song "#1Nite (One Night)", off their August 30 release Night Shades. Ryan Tedder adds his vocals to the rousing club tune — apparently the singer-songwriter-producer got a taste of the night life while working with other fete-throwers Far East Movement. Jordin Sparks was only 17 years old when she crowned the Season 6 winner of American Idol, and now at the ripe old age of 21, she is declaring herself a woman.
