Wynter Gordon And Steve Aoki Have Blood Lust In “Ladi Dadi” Video

Wed Jan 11 2012 by Becky Bain
There's something about dubstep that makes people want to beat the crap out of someone. Britney Spears went badass on herself during the dubstep breakdown in the video for "Hold It Against Me", and now comes Wynter Gordon and Steve Aoki out for blood in the clip for "Ladi Dadi", off Aoki's Wonderland. The "Til Death" singer and the superstar DJ/producer are clearly inspired by movies like The War Of The Roses and Mr. & Mrs. Smith as the two attempt to kill and seduce one another. Watching Wynter lick a giant knife and hurl a lobster may never get old. Catch all the action below. More »

Kid Cudi Guests On Steve Aoki’s “Cudi The Kid”

Wed Dec 14 2011 by Becky Bain
David Guetta isn't the only DJ/producer teaming up with some big acts to bring Euro dance beats here to the US. Steve Aoki will release Wonderland in early 2012, and the record scratcher tapped WZRD man Kid Cudi for the appropriately named album cut "Cudi The Kid" (which also features Travis Barker on drums). For Cudi fans who have a predilection for hallucinogens or mind-altering experiences (though the rapper is now drug-free, we assume there's still a handful of you out there), this ravey track should suit you just fine. Hop below to hear it. More »

Love! Romance! And all that crap! This week brought two very different music-related spins on the aforementioned topics to my attention, or at least two things that try to bring together music and “relationships.” Blog-rock porn and Sublime fans playing the match game, after the jump! More »

Five Reasons Why Jam Band Fans Are Better Than Indie Rock Fans

Tue Mar 31 2009 by Christopher R. Weingarten

I was skimming through this year’s Bonnaroo lineup as part of my usual round of cyber-stalking Neko Case, and I came upon an interesting discovery—this festival kicks ass! Although one of my friends described the layout as a desert of dust and piss, and the jam-centric lineup means stupid Phish is going to play for approximately 76 hours straight, I can pretty much get behind anything that brings together High On Fire and Janelle Monae (that isn’t made by the Hood Internet). Something this good could never happen on indie rock’s watch! Here are five reasons why the mud-caked hippies who will attend Bonnaroo are better than your sweater-clad ass!

I have a personal metric for how ridiculous American society has become, a calculation that simply adds together the amount of respect the culture affords to two phenomena: Donald Trump and Playboy. More »

“Here’s a fun item from our new blog about Steve Aoki kicking a blogger in the head.” Maura: “How is that blogger not you?” Ha ha. (But! This story is lame-o false advertising. Especially about the “fun” part. So, uh, don’t click on it? Or maybe click it on it, but don’t say we didn’t warn you. More »

Emphasis ours: “If you’re heading out to the club this weekend, don’t be surprised if you hear the DJ blasting the latest from indie faves LCD Soundsystem versus the latest from electro king Tiesto. It’s a new trend that Steve Aoki, a DJ based in L.A., has helped pioneer.” Sigh. More »
