This is a pretty great Christmas present, since it means that now I can finally do karaoke to "True Affection" without worrying about being perfectly synced with Khaela Maracich's vocals! AskMen.com recently compiled a list of their top ten breakup songs, including the not-really-about-a-break-up "No Woman, No Cry," "Achy Breaky Heart," the freaking Cake cover of "I Will Survive," and the heinous "I (Just) Died in Your Arms" by Cutting Crew. They had the decency to put "Go Your Own Way" by Fleetwood Mac at No. 2, but most of the list is pretty dreary—even for breakup songs! So I thought I'd make my own. More »

We're pretty nuts about Paper Television, the new album by the Portland indie-pop duo The Blow; it's full of plonky synths and innocent, breathy vocals from lead singer Khaela Maricich. "The Big U" has a threadbare backing track, and Maricich's description of a love triangle's tangles and snarls is both defensive and strangely grateful. More »
