Madonna ‘W.E.’ Track “Masterpiece” Snubbed By Oscar For Best Song
Tue Dec 20 2011 by Robbie Daw
A long list of contenders up for nomination for the Best Song category at the upcoming Academy Awards in 2012 is doing the rounds, and while some of the tunes that have already been nominated for Golden Globes are present — “Hello Hello” by Elton John and Lady Gaga, “The Living Proof” by Mary J. Blige, "The Keeper" by Chris Cornell, etc. — it appears as if there was no love for Madonna's “Masterpiece”, from her directorial effort W.E.

Why Lady Gaga And Katy Perry Got The Ax From ‘The Muppets’
Tue Nov 29 2011 by Idolator Staff
While Lady Gaga was causing a stir over the holiday weekend with her Thanksgiving special, the Muppets were making a comeback at the box office in the week's #1 movie debut. But in a perfect world, Mother Monster would have been at home amongst equally bizarre creatures in the film, since she shot a cameo that had to go because the kid-friendly flick was running at a whopping three hours. (Or is Kermit still holding a grudge about that coat?) And Tony Bennett's sketch muse wasn't the only pop star left on the cutting room floor — Katy Perry also appeared in an axed musical moment titled "I Kissed A Squirrel" (hilarious!). Read more below. The Muppets Perform Cee Lo Green’s “Forget You” — With Chickens!
Thu Nov 17 2011 by Becky Bain
With the release of their big Hollywood movie a week away, The Muppets have dropped a new video for their chicken-clucking cover of Cee Lo Green's "Forget You", intercut with scenes from the upcoming flick. Though it really is just hen-squawking the whole way through, it's still less bizarre a cover than their take on Nirvana's "Smells Like Teen Spirit", particularly since the Jim Henson puppets performed the song with Cee Lo himself at this past year's Grammys. Watch below!

The Muppets Cover Nirvana’s “Smells Like Teen Spirit” — What?!
Tue Nov 8 2011 by Erika Brooks Adickman
Earlier this year, the Muppets' classic songs were covered by rock groups from Paramore to Weezer, and now the furry creatures have returned the favor with an a capella version of Nirvana's "Smells Like Teen Spirit". The unexpected (yet highly enjoyable) rendition, from the soundtrack to the upcoming Muppets film, features a slew of familiar voices, including Beaker, Sam Eagle and Statler (or is it Waldorf?). It pretty much blows the live tributes from Miley Cyrus out of the water. Below, play the music, light the lights and give us your thoughts on the homage to grunge.

Hear OK Go, Weezer And Hayley Williams Pay Homage To The Muppets
Tue Aug 16 2011 by Erika Brooks Adickman
It's time to play the music — of the Muppets cover compilation The Green Album, that is. As we've previously mentioned, the most sensational, inspirational, celebrational, Muppetational LP won't be hitting stores until next Tuesday August 23. However, you can preview every track, including OK Go's "Muppet Show Theme" and the "Rainbow Connection" collaboration from Weezer and Hayley Williams, over at NPR. While we're sure Statler and Waldorf will hate this album, we're loving these reworkings of infamous Muppet tunes.
The Muppets Make A Better “Monster” Video Than Kanye West
Wed Jan 5 2011 by Becky Bain
Okay, so the completed video has yet to arrive. But it's going to be incredibly hard to top this video of Kanye West's "Monster", as performed by The Muppets (and as edited together by someone both brilliant and with a lot of old tapes of Sesame Street and The Muppet Show lying around). And hey, Kanye already approves. Jump below to watch Cookie Monster, Kermit and Miss Piggy (wearing S&M gear, for some childhood-destroying reason) lipdub Yeezy's all-star single.

Jimmy Fallon Gets Upstaged By The Muppets
Fri Dec 25 2009 by Becky Bain
How to put a new spin on a Christmas classic? Here's how: you recruit the greatest (felt) performers of all time to sing it. Queen revivalists The Muppets just joined Jimmy Fallon and The Roots on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon for a snowflake-sprinkled rendition of "The Twelve Days of Christmas" just in time to spread a little cheer. We're still waiting for Jason Segel's effort to return the Muppets to the big screen, but this will get us at least through the holidays. Could it be It's just a matter of time til The Muppet Show is back on the air and Miss Piggy is releasing her own pop album? Fingers crossed! Vid of Kermit, Fozzie, Animal, Jimmy, and a partridge... well, you know... after the jump.
