Nebraska's lead, the revenue department of Indiana is now eyeing a sales tax on digital downloads of books, music, and movies. While this move allegedly won't affect the prices at iTunes—that store already charges sales tax—it will up the cost of an MP3 purchased at Amazon.com by a few pennies. [

Another unexpected beneficiary of the digital age: State departments of revenue! Well, maybe, if Nebraska's tax collectors get their way and the state passes a law saying that digital versions of movies, books, and music are subject to the same sales tax that their physical counterparts are. I can see the hordes of people bringing their computers across state lines so they can avoid paying those extra pennies on their "Misery Business" downloads already! [
