Not much else to say about the June '08 issue of Blender, except that this issue is already available on eBay.

<![CDATA[Speaking of Alvin & The Chipmunks, did you ... ]]> iloveuuuuu.pngSpeaking of Alvin & The Chipmunks, did you know that, I guess thanks to that movie being out, there is a whole cottage YouTube industry devoted to posting "Chipmunk versions" of popular songs? And that people out there are so bored, someone actually requested that the Chipmunk treatment be given to "I Love U" by the newly minted "bisexual" "celebrity" Tila Tequila? It's things like this that make me hope for a very large upswing in manufacturing jobs, because clearly a lot of people out there have way too much time. Or too-high marketing budgets. Or both! <![CDATA["Musician"/"celebrity"/reality-TV "star" ... ]]> tila2.jpg"Musician"/"celebrity"/reality-TV "star" Tila Tequila's as-seen-on-MTV bisexuality may be 100% phony! I know, I know, we were all waiting to see if she would be STRAIGHT OR LESBIAN IN THE END?????, weren't we. Is there nothing left for the world to believe in? How will we tell the children who want to come out to their parents via blog post/reality show???? [NYP]

<![CDATA[Tila Tequila To Finally Get Some MTV Airtime]]> tila2.jpgNow that Tila Tequila's singing career has tanked, she's trying new, innovative ways to keep her name in the press. But photo shoots for the few remaining lad mags left and deals with unfortunately named Web outposts can't pay for all those two-inch skirts, so she's decided to go the reality-TV route with a show that's half Rock Of Love, half Girls Gone Wild, and 100% a sign that MTV's willing to let almost anyone become a reality-TV "celebrity" these days:

My new reality show on MTV will be like NO OTHER SHOW ON TELEVISION HISTORY! My show is about finding true love, because for me....having over 2 million friends is cool but sometimes it makes it hard for me to find someone real, and someone whom I can trust and love.....but there is a catch.....the show will be about me finding love as a BISEXUAL!!!!! THAT IS CRAZY RIGHT? So on my new reality show there will be 16 male contestants and 16 female contestants all fighting for my love....the only twist is....yes, there is another twist....the only twist is that these guys and these girls have NO IDEA that I am bisexual and that they are competing against each others sexes!!! GUYS AGAINST GIRLS....WHO WILL I END UP HOOKING UP WITH????? WILL I BE STRAIGHT OR LESBIAN IN THE END?????

So all you kids out there who are struggling with your sexuality: Clearly, what you need to do is get yourself a reality show so you can figure out once and for all whether you'll be STRAIGHT OR LESBIAN IN THE END????? Oh, and then you can come out to your parents via blog-slash-press release.

A SHOT AT LOVE WITH TILA TEQUILA! [Tila Tequila's MySpace Blog]

<![CDATA[Tila Tequila Still Can't Sell Her Music]]> tila2.jpgTila Tequila's MySpace "celebrity" may get her a table at Nobu, but it hasn't translated into music sales yet:

Tila Tequila has the most friends on MySpace with nearly 1.7 million, but that popularity has not yet translated into meaningful iTunes purchases. According to data relayed by media tracking firm BigChampagne, the Tequila single, "I Love U," has delivered a lackluster performance so far. In a conversation with Digital Music News on Monday, BigChampagne chief executive Eric Garland pointed to iTunes sales volumes that were "in the thousands," though exact figures were not disclosed. Since its release in late February, the single has failed toTila Tequila cross into the top 50, though it did break the top 100 barrier shortly after its release.

And things don't look like they're going to get much easier for Tequila, whose attempt to sell music through her MySpace page has been shut down by the social-networking site, thanks to her decision to use the stupidly named widget Hoooka. MySpace has banned the widget from the site, and Tila is not too pleased, as this blog entry—which is on her Comic Sans-intensive non-MySpace site—shows:

... The reason why I am so bummed out about Myspace now is because recently they have been cutting down our freedom and taking away our rights slowly. I feel like they've become so corporate now and won't even allow me to do fun stuff on my page anymore such as post up cool new widgets from other websites. Myspace will now only allow you to use "MYSPACE" things and that means you can not find other ways to promote yourself. In other words....you're just stuck here and only here. I feel really sad about this. I feel like slowly our freedom to promote is being taken away, the bigger and more corporate this website has become. Myspace recently asked me to take down all of the things on my page that doesn't invloved just "Myspace"...but it never used to be that way. I am really sad. I feel like they are turning against me like Friendster did...but I hope that is not the case.If Myspace decides to delete my page due to me having other cool stuff up such as my "Hooka" feature, or other embedded video's that I have recorded...then so be it. I'm just really bummed how everything has changed so much. Sooo after writing this...who knows if they will delete my page but that would be really messed up because I have done so much on here and I have such a HUGE presence on Myspace. So one day if you log on and my page is gone...well....you'll know that they sold me out but don't worry... I will never go away. You will always be able to find me somewhere, somehow....always.With that said...I hope Tom and the Myspace team gets to read this and try to take this into consideration. Myself and my millions of "friends" on Myspace has been so loyal and Myspace would not be where they are today if it were not for "US" so please I ask you guys....don't sell out on us now. You guys used to be so cool. Don't turn into a corporate evil monster. We are all just trying to make a living one way or another so don't take that away from us.Thank you and I have always been loyal to Myspace and Always will be. I love Myspace, and I am still a Myspace addict today! I just wish that I didn't have to take down a lot of things on my page that are not "MYSPACE RELATED"...there are billions of people out there...There will always be competing websites but nobody will ever be as big as Myspace so I just hope that they know there can still be room for the little guys.....anyway...I love you everyone and thanks for listening. LoveTila

Whew. Well, at least we know she's serious. One question, though: Why didn't she post this on her MySpace blog, where people might, you know, actually read it?

<![CDATA[Tila Tequila Keeps It Real]]> tilajon.jpgWe don't usually regurgitate press releases, but the words "Tila Tequila" and "decadent pool party" are seen together so rarely these days:

Internet queen Tila Tequila hits the hoooka on March 14, 2007 when her debut single "I Love U" and accompanying music video become available for sale on a unique online store that that lets artists and fans customize their own playlists and share, sell, and stream music, videos, and photos online. Fans can create their own hoooka, add Ms. Tequila's new single and video for "I Love U," and make 10% of everything they sell - which can add up considering the Queen of MySpace's first video reached the #1 position on iTunes.

Next up, the hoooka will exclusively provide fans with a VIP pass to Tila Tequila's private party in Miami to be held during the upcoming Winter Music Conference. Tila will preside over a decadent pool party at a fabulously tucked-away Miami mansion with celebrities, fellow revelers, and friends. Interviews and event coverage can only be viewed online via the hoooka beginning March 26.

"I'm independent and in charge of my own destiny," says Tila. "My fans got me here, not a million dollar marketing campaign. Hooking up with the hoooka means everyone can hear and share my music, plus be a part of my success. I don't want a big record label telling me what to do - and my fans want to hear things that are new, and fresh, and REAL."

Indeed, if Tila's musical career is based on anything, it's her all-caps realness. She's so real, in fact, that when you ask her at the pool party why her single has already slipped out of iTunes singles chart, or why her "D.I.Y." marketing campaign requires a publicist, or why the hell a website would call itself "hoooka," she won't even bat an eye! Assuming she can actually still bat her eyes.

<![CDATA[Tila Tequila Worth 99 Cents To At Least A Few Of Her MySpace Pals]]> tila2.jpgLast week, we told you about Tila Tequila's plan to prove to the world that her 1.7 million MySpace friends are willing to buy her music, especially if it's packaged with a "fucking HOT!" (her words) video. An update: "I Love U" has been available via the iTunes Store for about a day, and it's cracked the store's top 100 songs chart, causing Tila to type breathlessly:

Dude, I am now on the actual top 100 singles charts!!!!!! IT IS OFFICIAL!!! I just made it on the list today debuting at #91 beating out Christina Aguilera, Pussycat Dolls, Jim Jones...etc..etc....OH MY GOD! This is sooo amazing you guys! Let's get it to #1 ok????

We're not sure how many sales it takes to get a song into the top 100, but we know one thing: If we were Tila, wouldn't start celebrating until our song got ahead of "Weird Al" Yankovic, whose "White & Nerdy" is, after all these months, sitting pretty at No. 77. Because only after you eclipse a man who has his own fan-maintained wiki can you truly claim that you're the most famous person on the Internet.

<![CDATA[Tila Tequila To Engage In The Ultimate Test Of Her MySpace Friends' Loyalty]]> tila.jpgRemember Tila Tequila, the most popular MySpace "musician" among the lad-mag set? Well, her first single comes out on Tuesday, and she's ready to see who her real friends are:

Right now everyone, as far as the music industry is concerned, is saying that (and I quote straight from them) "TILA TEQUILA WILL NOT SUCCEED DOING THIS ON HER OWN! JUST BECAUSE SHE HAS 1.7 MILLION FRIENDS ON HER PAGE DOESN'T MEAN THEY ARE GOING TO SUPPORT HER!" And that really makes me mad! What do they know about my connection with you guys? I've known you for almost 4 years now and you're more like my friend! How dare they make judgment on me? So right now I need your help more then ever as my friend!! I need your help to prove the music industry people wrong and I want to make history. No unsigned artist in HISTORY has EVER, EVER made it on the Billboard top 20 charts for the first week sales. With your help...
"I WANT TO BECOME FIRST PERSON IN HISTORY EVER TO BE THE FIRST UNSIGNED ARTIST TO LAND ON THE TOP 20 BILLBOARD CHARTS! HELL...EVEN MAKE #1!!!"

That would be monumental and will be down in history forever! But I need your help! If you want to be a part of making history happen...all you have to do is help me spread the word about the "TILA TEQUILA MOVEMENT" and try to get as many people possible to buy my single for $0.99 cents! That's why I made it so cheap cuz it's more about the movement...not the money...We can make history together! If this works....I can go on Oprah and Larry King Live and tell the world how my friends on myspace helped me make history and how this will be a new future trend for the rest of the artists out there who want to make it on their own! This will be a story nobody will ever forget and it all starts with you! So please join me in the new revolution and set aside .99 cents for me to start history starting Feb. 27th on Itunes! So now I leave it all in your hands to decide whether or not you want to help me make history, and hopefully...you're answer is yes!

It'll be an interesting test, that's for sure: Can someone who has, at last count, 1,682,313 so-called "friends" get 10% of them to shell out a measly buck in order to make a point? (Fall Out Boy's "This Ain't A Scene, It's An Arms Race" had a No. 2 debut on the Billboard Hot 100 a few weeks back, and that was in large part because the digital single sold 162,000 copies.) We'll be watching this when the track does on sale next week, but we do have to give her credit for one smart move: Given the fact that so much of her offline publicity has been accompanied by cheesecake shots, bundling a video in with a purchase of the song was a genius move.
