Leach claimed to have gotten the scoop from Vince Neil, who was throwing a birthday party at Koi in Las Vegas and who was all smiles, saying that Motley's first world tour under the deal would kick off in July and that by the time the deal was up, the band would be celebrating its 37th anniversary. But then Nikki Sixx fired back via an e-mailed press release from his publicist, saying that Vince was, once again, just talking crazy talk!

For those of you who read Blabbermouth and saw the posting which claims Mötley Crüe has signed a deal with Live Nation, it is incorrect. Please read the official statement below.

MOTLEY CRUE HAS NOT SIGNED ANY DEALS TO TOUR OR RECORD WHATSOEVER. ANY INFORMATION TO THE CONTRARY IS 100 PERCENT INCORRECT.

- NIKKI SIXX

Ah, all-caps. The last refuge of the peevish bass player who's had it up to here with his lead singer's antics. But if Vince wasn't just having some sort of birthday-celebration-induced fever dream... could the 360 deal actually be for him solo, with Live Nation sharing in the profits from his alcohol-making endeavors? After all, Sammy Hagar is much richer from his tequila empire than he ever dreamed he'd be from singing "Poundcake" night after night.

<![CDATA[Vince Neil Can't Catch A Break]]> smallish_neil.jpgLast night's Dolphins-Steelers game in Pittsburgh was a soggy affair that wound up being the lowest-scoring game in the NFL since World War II. (The final: 3-0 Pittsburgh.) But the driving rain also snuffed out the traditional performance of "The Star-Spangled Banner," which is a shame, since a certain winery owner/hard rock legend was slated to warble it:

MÖTLEY CRÜE frontman Vince Neil will perform the national anthem tonight when the Pittsburgh Steelers host the Miami Dolphins at Heinz Field for ESPN's "Monday Night Football".

The game will begin at 8:30 p.m. Eastern/5:30 p.m. Pacific, with Vince's performance of the anthem taking place just prior to kickoff.

No doubt this rainout upset the commenters on the Blabbermouth report, who were waiting for a performance of the caliber we've come to expect from Vince:

"Oh say...seee! ... dawn's... light... proudly... hailed... LEMME HEAR YOU SING IT!! (holds mic out to the crowd)..... And... red glare!!!.... Bursting.... air...."

A nation weeps.

If you didn't get tickets to this once-in-a-lifetime event where the sad inhabitants of Behind The Music get drunk on a boat and wonder what happened to the good old days man, you can think of me in January when you're freezing and I'm sucking back Cuervo and playing poker in a wet t-shirt with Blackie Lawless. <![CDATA[Carrie Underwood Skydives Naked, Drives A Custom Built Bike Doing 103]]> vince.jpgSqueaky clean American Idol winner, grandma-friendly country star, and fan of cherry pie Carrie Underwood is turning out to be as much of an '80s metalhead as my co-editor. After affirming the universality of Skid Row and Guns N' Roses for the benefit of YouTube viewers, she's now kickstarted Vince Neil's heart, performing with the Crue singer at a Nashville tour stop this week. If Carrie records an album of shlocky, pop-countrified hair metal covers, well, I won't want to listen to it necessarily, but its existence will at least warm my heart. Because the Internet is wonderful, magical place where kids can eat candy as soon as they want, there's already a clip of the duet, and we've got it after the jump:

<![CDATA[Vince Neil Thinking Of Creative Ways To Capitalize On His "Fondness For Drinking"]]> vince.jpgNo doubt inspired by the massive success of Sammy Hagar's Cabo Wabo Tequila, noted vintner Vince Neil has decided to jump into the tequila-making game as well. The West Roxbury Transcript looked at Neil's newest sideline with a piece that made frequent references to his status as an "alcohol aficionado"—although to be fair, making wine and tequila is probably more lucrative for Neil than losing the words to his songs in a bottle:

To capitalize on his fondness for drinking, despite having at least one trip to rehab, Neil was at Gary's Liquors on the VFW Parkway to promote his three types of tequila called Vince Neil's Tres Rios.
"It's just good stuff ... it's made down outside of Guadalajara [Mexico]," said Neil of the three types: silver, reposado and anejo. All three types are aged for different durations and different ways.

Neil, an alcohol aficionado, also owns his own vineyard, but this past Friday he was focusing on his latest venture, tequila.

"I like tequila ... there's no worms in these. It's a fun thing. It's little bit more rock 'n' roll," said the Motley Crue singer whose band was known for songs such as "Girls, Girls, Girls" "Shout at the Devil" and "Home Sweet Home."

A little bit more rock and roll, huh? Guess that means it won't taste like deli meat.

<![CDATA[Vince Neil Heads Back Into The Reality-TV Limelight]]> vinceneil.jpgNot to be outdone by Bret Michaels, whose Flavor Of Love ripoff was finally announced yesterday, former Motley Crue singer / winemaker Vince Neil has announced his plans to return to the reality-TV world:

The former The Surreal Life housemate — who appeared on the show's first season when it was broadcast on the now defunct The WB network — is reportedly working on a pilot for a new A&E reality television show, according to the website Blabbermouth.net.

Appearing on the "Friday Night Rocks" radio show on New York's Q104.3 FM on February 9, Neil said the A&E program would follow the daily life of his family after his parents moved in with them.

"My wife hasn't talked to my mom since the wedding," Neil said on the radio program. On January 9, 2005, Niel married Lia Gerardini in a ceremony that was officiated by ordained minister and fellow first season The Surreal Life housemate MC Hammer.

A & E, huh? We guess that, once things get "interesting," it'll be a good match with Intervention.

<![CDATA[Tool Singer Thinks Vince Neil's Wine-Making Techniques Are Better Suited To The Deli Counter]]> vinceneil.jpgLittle did we know that Tool's Maynard James Keenan made wines in Arizona under the name Caduceus (warning: the site is a little Myst-y). As a celebrity who makes wine, he's also sampled the wines of other celebrities, and he did a little dishing for The Onion:

AVC: Any celebrity wines you recommend? Supposedly Francis Ford Coppola's line is worth trying.

MJK: Oh, yeah—the Coppola wines are actually pretty good. I haven't had anything this year, but what I remember having, it actually was relevant. I would avoid at all costs anything resembling Vince Neil's wine...

AVC: Vince Neil has a wine?

MJK: Oh, good God—you can't even get near the glass. You pour it, and you're like, "Oh, my fucking God—are there pickles in here?"

Yes, this is what rock feuds have come down to in 2006: sniping over a wine's nose. Actually, we're a little disappointed by this news—we really thought Vince Neil was interested in wine because of its taste, not its effects.
