Jennifer Lopez Does Rihanna, Performs Two New Songs On ‘SNL’

Mon Mar 1 2010 by Robbie Daw
"We Are The World 25 For Haiti" was filleted on Saturday Night Live this past weekend in a sketch where Quincy Jones (played by Kenan Thompson) offered up "We Are The World 3: Raising Awareness Of The We Are The World 2 Disaster." In it, Jennifer Lopez posed as Rihanna—and she did so pretty effectively, we have to say. Have a watch of the skit, plus J.Lo performing new songs "Pieces" and "Starting Over," after the jump. The Idolator Interview: Robin Thicke

Wed Feb 24 2010 by Becky Bain
It's no wonder Robin Thicke tells us how impressed he is by 15-year old Justin Bieber, whom he calls "wonderful"—the seductive singer has been making tunes since he was basically the same age. Thicke has been in the limelight since he was a kid—at first by association with his famous parents (TV actors Alan Thicke and Gloria Loring), and then in his own right as as a 16-year old writing and producing wunderkind, knob twiddling and penning tracks for the likes of Christina Aguilera, Pink, Mya and more.

Sixteen years later, Thicke is a grown, sexy man and heading down a whole new path professionally and personally—he and his wife, actress Paula Patton, are expecting their first son this May, and his latest release, the seductive Sex Therapy, is full of determined beats that allow Thicke to stretch beyond his customary boudoir R&B into dancefloor-ready hip-hop. (He's a student of history, too, as his opening track, "Mrs. Sexy," is a clever cover of Eric B. and Rakim's classic "Mahogany.") "I just kind of wanted to explore my hip-hop roots a little more on this album," Robin tells us. "Take some chances and work with some new people."

That he definitely does. Read on to hear what the silky-voiced crooner thinks of the state of hip-hop, whether it was a mistake to re-record "We Are The World," and the significance of Justin Bieber. More »

After all the press coverage and buildup over the past two weeks, the 25th anniversary update of "We Are The World" finally premiered Friday during the opening of the 2010 Winter Olympics. Jamie Foxx introduced the Paul Haggis-directed video for the charity song by asking viewers to "do more than just watch—reach deep into your hearts and give anything you can, as we have, for Haiti."

Both the digital single and music video were added to iTunes Friday night, with proceeds going to Haiti earthquake relief efforts. Watch the full eight-minute-and-30-second clip—which features everyone from Pink and Justin Bieber to Barbra Streisand and Janet Jackson—below the jump. More »

Lady Gaga Explains Her “We Are The World” No-Show

Fri Feb 5 2010 by Robbie Daw
Lady Gaga appears to be scaling down her to-do list after a bout of exhaustion caused her to cancel a handful of live dates last month. Despite reports that she'd be involved, the Grammy winner surprisingly never showed up for the all-star recording of "We Are The World," which is being released to raise money for Haiti earthquake relief efforts.

“I’ve actually been in rehearsal for my new tour, but I was never supposed to do ‘We Are The World.’ So that’s a rumor,” Gaga told Access Hollywood's Billy Bush. So why, exactly, did she sit the recording out? More »
