From the In Rainbows insta-reviews the NME solicited from its readers earlier this morning: "'In Rainbows' is the triumphant return that every fan was praying for. There is nothing about this album to criticize." Why do I expect most of the "legit" reviews to read like slightly wordier versions of this? [NME]

but what will pitchfork give it?
gotta be 7.6 or better and BNM
..............
@loudersoft: 7.6 is way too low for BNM, much less 'Recommended'!! I predict that the Pitchfork review will come out in enough time (a week or so?) that the 'backlash' (in the sense of NOT just saying the album is amazing because it's an event and we're all so so so excited AHHHHHH!) will already have started, OR will be ripe to start, with Pitchfork dealing the first 'blow' with a middling review in the 6.0-7.0 range.
@loudersoft:
I feel an 8.4.
@aluberalles: Totally agreed. I can't see this getting anything more than a 7.5.
@Charlie Kerfelds Jetsons Tee: Really? I'm listening to it and I feel a BNM. Ew, that sounds gross.
The review for this album will be so anti-climactic. Most Pfork readers will have already downloaded the album, so what good will a Pfork review of In Rainbows do other than just raw acknowledgement of the album's existence?
More importantly, will Brent D. return for this review?
@Lucas Jensen: I'm not saying that's my opinion of the album... I just think that the 'Fork might play the "Yawn..." card with this one.
Just a hunch, 'sall.
@Lucas Jensen: there are over-the-counter items which can help with that
I'm also betting on a 6-7 "yawn" from the 'fork.
I've always wondered what one has to do to get a 10 from them.
Brent "King Of The Stupid High-Concept Review" DiCrescenzo coming out of retirement ("retirement" here meaning "fired for being a lying liar pants in a Beastie Boys review") would be the only thing that could make me care about Pitchfork's review of this album.
You have to be the Arcade Fire.
@heyzeus: But only if you want the 10 for your debut.
If you want the 10 for your third record, you have to be Trail of Dead.
Upon further consideration, I could see Pitchfork holding off on a review until the Discbox comes out, and reviewing it as a unit, in which case the bonus materials would factor into the score as well. Either way, this review is going to be so totally meta you guys.
@summeroflove: Clell Tickle would know
@loudersoft: Ha. So basically no one is bigger than Tapes n' Tapes.
@summeroflove: do not talk about fight club
Is the NME office a magnet for tools? I can't help but wonder how they get clones of the tools on their payroll.
